That’s because all the loose change in the offering plates goes towards WORLD HUNGER. Why not start a NOISY OFFERING JAR at home and bring it to church once a month? "Is There an App for That Gospel Thing? --A Workshop for Christians in a Download World" A workshop of the Heartland conference held at Lord of Life in Baxter, MN, on February 7th at 10:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. All members of the NE MN Synod are invited!! A lunch will be provided for $10 per person. You can reserve lunch by visiting www.lolbaxter.org or call Lord of Life church office: 218-828-9374. Here’s a little more about the conference: Everything that the congregations do--from the ways we worship to the ways we teach to the recipes for the annual church dinner--everything was designed to work in a world that no longer exists. Which is not to say that the world no longer exists; we are quite certain it does. But the world around the church has changed in many ways--some subtle, some obvious, some almost unnoticeable. All this change provides congregations to ask a simple question: "Should we still be doing all this stuff exactly the way Grandpa and Grandma did it?" Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes the answer is no, sometimes the answer is, "Help us, God!" This workshop will offer a simple way to approach difficult but important conversations about your congregation's ministries. The day will be led by Rolf Jacobson, who is Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary, St Paul, MN. Rolf Jacobson is an in-demand speaker, known for his signature brand of humorous and passionate theological reflection. His recent credits include Crazy Talk: A Not-So-Stuffy Dictionary of Theological Terms, which is probably the funniest book on Christian theology you'll ever read.
