MISSION STATEMENT
The parish family of St. Canera sees as its mission to
work together and in the larger community to know,
love, and serve God. Based on Scripture, the sacraments, and our Roman Catholic tradition, we seek to
recognize our dependence on God, grow spiritually,
become images of Christ, educate adults and assist in
educating children, and as God’s instruments, share our
faith with and welcome others.

camino pecaminoso y poder acercarnos a nuestro Señor.
Cuaresma. Si tú has estado considerando y dudando hacer
Iglesia.

My dear sisters and brothers,
Lent contains many images of renewal, the
chaotic waters of the flood, the ark, the rainbow, the desert, among others. We have all of
these in our scripture readings today. The story of Noah and the
Ark is one of starting over, recreating things once again without
sin. Genesis speaks of the Covenant that God once again renews
with people.
We see Jesus in the Gospel, like us in everything but sin, but still
struggling with the temptations of the devil in the desert. His
conquest of the devil is but a preview of his victory over sin,
death, and the devil in his cross and resurrection.
Lent brings us back to all of these basics and calls us to renewal
once again this year. Let us once again immerse ourselves into
this holy season in order that we might have a little new life in us
when we remember and celebrate once again
the new life that Christ won for us in his resurrection from the dead this Easter.
With fond affection,
Fr. Hank
