LIVING THE EUCHARIST
2:00–4:00 pm and 6:30– 8:30pm
REFLECT:
What sort of conversion do I hope for this Lent? A conversion of mind, heart, ac on? Where in my own life do I
sense a need for “more light” to break forth from God’s
Word?
ACT:
Conversion in ac on means following through on our
good inten ons and inspira ons, without hesita on or
undue delay. Don’t put off doing something good that
you’ve thought of doing. Act now!
PRAY:
Lord Jesus, you opened the minds of your disciples to
understand their experience in light of the Scriptures.
Help me to read “the signs of the mes” in my own life.
Holy Spirit, turn my life over to God more fully. Set my
heart on fire with your holy Word!

MENTAL HEALTH MINISTRY PRESENTS
"FINDING A PURPOSE IN LONELINESS"
Almost all of us have experienced the pain of loneliness. While we generally think of it as a nega ve and
unwanted thing, loneliness can actually be a gi in disguise. It signals that we need to take care of ourselves; it
can even be a way God gets us to look at new possibilies in our lives. What a perfect focus as we start a new
year! Come to an interac ve presenta on on Saturday,
Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Dining room. Everyone is
welcome.
For more informa on about this workshop or about
any other mental health need, leave a message on the
Mental Health Ministry voicemail: 760-757-3250 x203.

FOOD WASTE FACTS – DID YOU KNOW
The average American worker spends almost as
much on coffee as he or she does on commu ng
costs each year.
The United Na ons has set the minimum requirement for caloric intake per person per day at 2,410.
The world can produce enough food to provide every
person with more than 2,700 calories per day, yet
many s ll go hungry.
Picture in your mind the last full meal you consumed.
Did you eat all of it? Were there le overs? Did you throw
anything away? How many “extras” have you consumed
in the past 24 hours—snacks, treats, cups of coffee? Our
faith calls us to resist the culture of waste and excess:
Pope Francis has said, “Consumerism has led us to become used to an excess and daily waste of food, to
which, at mes, we are no longer able to give a just value, which goes well beyond mere economic parameters.
We should all remember, however, that throwing food
away is like stealing from the tables of the poor, the hungry!” And, “We are in front of a global scandal of around
1 billion—1 billion people who s ll suffer from hunger
today.
This week, in solidarity with the poor, look for ways to
reduce food waste. Oh God, where we are blind to the
needs of others, teach us how to live conscious lives of
care and service.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL 2016

If you have not had the opportunity to contribute to
this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal, you can s ll do so
THIS WEEKEND during Mass or by going online at

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
In today’s second reading we
learn that one of Saint Paul’s
principles of Chris an living is to
watch and imitate other followers of Christ. There is a pa ern
for Chris an living that Saint
Paul wants others to discover
and then imitate. This pa ern
includes a life of prayer,
selflessness, sacrifice, and caring for others, including our
family of faith. Good stewards choose their friends wisely. They cul vate friendships with other Chris an stewards, spend me with them, observe how they live, ask
ques ons about their faith and learn from them. Who
are your friends? Are they good stewards of their faith?
Are they those who can help you on your own journey of
faith?

Año de la Misericordia
HECHOS: Desperdicio de Alimentos - ¿Sabías Tú?
 El
trabajador estadounidense

demora indebida. No pospongas hacer algo bueno que has

¿a quién temeré?
EL MINISTERIO DE SALUD MENTAL PRESENTA
“ENCONTRANDO UN PROPÓSITO EN LA SOLEDAD”
— Salmo 27 (26):1

NEWS FROM THE PARISH ADVISORY
BOARD ABOUT THE PARISH SURVEY AND
BEING A FRANCISCAN PARISH
NOTICIAS DEL CONSEJO PARROQUIAL
SOBRE LA ENCUESTA PARROQUIAL Y EL
SER UNA PARROQUIA FRANCISCANA
Of great interest to the Board is how we as a
parish think about and live out our Franciscan identy. Though many people experience a sense of
warmth and welcome here at our parish that is
greatly valued, it difficult for us to express that in
words – and many people expressed a desire to
know about “What is Franciscan?” That is exci ng as
it provides direc on for the Advisory Board to help
shape and grow our Franciscan iden ty as a Parish,
perhaps through addi onal spiritually enriching acvi es and programs – and in other crea ve ways.
Being Franciscan is an important part of who we are.
Parishioners were suppor ve of addi onal spiritually enriching ac vi es at the parish, with nearly half
of the survey respondents saying they’d like to see
addi onal opportuni es to par cipate.
Would you like to see any addi onal spiritually enriching ac vi es
or experiences offered at our parish?
