CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF UNITED STATES REPRESENTATIVE - District 3 DAN LOGUE Education and Qualifications: If you believe America is headed in the wrong direction, give me a chance to put things right. I’ll start by making members of Congress live more like us by stopping them from taking paychecks and taxpayer-financed pensions at the same time; outlawing junkets and not paying Congress if it can’t pass a budget on time. I’ll put the focus on jobs - just like I did in local government. As County Supervisor, I brought twelve-hundred new jobs to Northern California. As Chairman of the Working Group on Jobs and the Economy, I won praise from Democrats and Republicans alike for my efforts to strengthen the economy. I worked across party lines to build new water storage facilities and enact a $700 million drought relief program that helped those who lost jobs because of the drought. I also implemented innovative health care reforms that saved California $1 billion and improved the quality of care. In Congress, I’ll work to solve problems created by Obamacare, fight to protect the doctor/patient relationship, clean up the bureaucratic mess, and remove provisions that are costing America the equivalent of 2 million jobs. I’ll also lead the fight to stop a new gas tax that will increase the price of gas by 16-cents a gallon. Sending the same representatives back to Washington to play the same games won’t change a thing. To keep your doctor, protect your tax dollars, and rebuild the economy, change your Congressman. I love my work. It allows me to find ways to grow job opportunities, to protect our nation, and to help you. On the Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Armed Services Committees, I work across the aisle to expand opportunity and shape an economy that works for all Americans. My “Make It In America” bill requires your tax money be spent on American made equipment and jobs. I support raising the minimum wage, equal pay for equal work, and family leave. As Insurance Commissioner, I forced companies to pay claims, protected seniors from fraud, lowered rates, and created the strongest consumer protection agency in America. I voted to stop abuses by Wall Street. As President Clinton’s Deputy Secretary of Interior, I’m focused on water policy. My comprehensive water plan addresses drought through conservation, recycling, and storage while protecting the environment, communities, and water rights. Stop the Tunnels, Save the Delta. I voted to protect Medicare and Social Security and to increase veterans benefits. I supported $4 trillion in deficit reduction through targeted cuts. I’ve led the effort to end the Afghanistan war and to require Congressional approval before military involvement in Iraq and Syria. As Lieutenant Governor and UC Regent I opposed college tuition increases. I’m a graduate of UC Berkeley and Harvard, MBA. Patti and I served in the Peace Corps. We have six children and 11 grandchildren. We continue our family’s farming heritage raising cattle and growing pears. s/John Garamendi Educación y Calificaciónes: Es un honor y un privilegio trabajar como su congresista. Me encanta mi trabajo.
