THE TEMPLE AND WORSHIP
In all of today’s readings, the temple is prominently
mentioned. Ezekiel speaks of streams of living water
flowing out from the temple, watering the desert,
bringing life to all living things, offering fresh healing to
God’s people.
Paul reminds the Corinthians that their faith rests
upon the firmest of foundations, Christ himself. More
than that, Paul reveals that those who follow Christ are
themselves temples, temples of the Holy Spirit; that is,
God dwells not only with them, but in them.
For the Jews of Jesus’ time, the temple had come to
be identified with the presence of God and the only place
where authentic worship of God took place. Jesus had a
different perception. Jesus identified himself not with the
temple, but as the temple. In so doing, Jesus indicated a
dramatic shift in what it means to worship God, to be in
God’s presence. No longer was a place to be the focus of
prayer. Instead, a person, the person of Jesus Christ,

Congratulations to Cathedral Preparatory Seminary
for 100th Anniversary
Cathedral Preparatory Seminary located on 56-25 92nd
Street, Elmhurst, about 7 blocks from our parish, has
begun celebrating their 100th Anniversary Year.
Construction of the school began in 1914. It serves as the
Diocese’s only high school seminary. We pray for its
continued success and mission in preparing young men to
respond to the call God has given them in life.
Christmas Bazaar/Flea Market
We will be having our Annual Christmas Sale on Sunday,
November 30th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The church is
now accepting household articles and clothing that are
new or in the best condition for the Christmas Sale.
Please plan to begin your Christmas shopping at our
Christmas Sale. Vendors can rent tables to sell their
articles at $25 per table. If interested in renting a table,
please call the rectory at 718-271-1100.
Pledges for Parish Center Repairs
Your contributions to this special project is
very important. To date parishioners have
donated $25,199 for the repair of the parish
center floor.
We have a long way to go to meet our goal.
Let us work together to raise the necessary
funds. Pledge cards may be picked up at the
rectory. Thank you for being part of
keeping our parish alive and well.
2014 Annual Catholic Appeal—8 weeks left
There are 8 weeks left in the Annual Catholic Appeal
2014 campaign. We appreciate the contributions that
have been made. Our parish, however, still need to meet
its goal. We are about $3,500 short of the $33,036 goal
being asked of us. Please fulfill the pledges you have
made before the end of December. Each parish is asked to
do its part in supporting Catholic services throughout our
Diocese. Please be generous. Whatever amount goes
over our $33,036 goal will be given back to our parish.
If you have not made a pledge, please do so using the
pledge envelopes or contribute online as a parishioner
from St. Paul’s at: www.rcdobdonate.org. Thank you

Faith In New York – Affordable Housing
Workshop #2 on Saturday Nov 15th
The crisis of affordable housing is greatly impacting our city.
Last month here at St. Paul’s, we had a conversation defining
and exploring what affordable housing means in New York
City. On Saturday, November 15, we will continue this work
with a discussion led by PICO National Network Deputy
Director, Rev. Alvin Herring on "The Impact of Race on the
New York City Housing Crisis." We will learn skills and plan
strategy for ensuring the creation of decent, affordable housing
for families in our communities. The day will consist of vision
casting and gaining tools to build powerful congregational
teams to fight for the creation of affordable housing in our city.
Together, we can win the fight for affordable housing in New
York City.

En todas las lecturas de hoy, el Templo
es mencionado predominantemente.
Ezequiel habla de aguas vivas que fluyen del
Templo, regando el desierto, trayendo vida a
todas las cosas vivientes, brindando salud y
frescor al pueblo de Dios.
Pablo recuerda a los corintios que su fe
reposa sobre bases firmes, Cristo mismo.
Más que eso, Pablo les revela que quienes
siguen a Cristo son templos ellos mismos,
templos del Espíritu Santo, es decir, que Dios
no solamente habita con ellos, sino dentro de
ellos.
Para los judíos de los tiempos de Jesús,
el Templo era identificado con la presencia
de Dios y como el lugar santo en donde la
verdadera adoración a Dios tenía lugar.
Jesús tenía una percepción diferente. Jesús
se identifica a sí mismo no con el Templo,
sino como el templo. Al hacerlo, Jesús
mostró un cambio dramático en lo que
significa adorar a Dios, estar en la presencia
de Dios. Ya no sería un sitio el centro de
oración. Ahora una persona, la persona de
Jesucristo, viene a ser el centro de nuestra

Cathedral Preparatory en su
aniversario número 100
El Seminario Cathedral Preparatory ubicado
en la calle 92 56-25, Elmhurst, cerca de 7
cuadras de nuestra parroquia, ha comenzado
la celebración de su centésimo año de
aniversario. La construcción de la escuela se
inició en 1914. Sirve como único seminario de
la escuela secundaria de la Diócesis. Oramos
por su éxito continuo y la misión en la
preparación de los jóvenes para la llamada
que Dios les ha dado en la vida.
Campaña Católica Anual del 2014
Quedan 8 semanas de la Campaña Católica
Anual 2014. Apreciamos las contribuciones
hechas hasta ahora. Nuestra parroquia, sin
embargo, aún no ha cumplido con su meta
asignada. Estamos 3,500 dólares por debajo
de la meta de $33,036. Por favor, cumpla con
las promesas que ha hecho antes de finales
de diciembre. Se pide a cada parroquia
aportar su parte para apoyar a los servicios

Christmas Bazaar/Flea Market
Tendremos nuestro Bazar Anual Navideño el
día Domingo, 30 de Noviembre desde las
9:00am a 3:00pm. La parroquia esta
recibiendo artículos para la casa y ropa
nueva o usada pero en buena condición para
que la podamos vender. Se pide a las
personas que por favor regalen estos
artículos a la parroquia para recaudar fondos
para la Iglesia. También se rentaran mesas a
los vendedores que les interese vender su
propia mercancía. El costo de la mesa es de
$25. Si usted esta interesado por favor llame

Taller de Vivienda Accesible
Taller # 2 el sábado 15 de Noviembre
La crisis de la vivienda asequible está
afectando en gran medida nuestra ciudad.
El mes pasado aquí en St. Paul, tuvimos
una conversación definiendo y
explorando lo que significa una vivienda
asequible en la ciudad de Nueva York.
El sábado, 15 de noviembre vamos a
continuar con este trabajo con un debate
dirigido por el Director Adjunto de la
Red Nacional PICO, Rev. Alvin Arenque
sobre "El impacto de la raza en la Crisis
de Vivienda de la ciudad de Nueva
York." Vamos a aprender las habilidades
y la estrategia del plan para garantizar la
creación de una vivienda digna y
asequible para las familias en nuestras
comunidades. La jornada constará de
formar una visión y la obtención de
herramientas para construir equipos
congregacionales poderosas para luchar
por la creación de viviendas asequibles
en nuestra ciudad. Luchemos juntos!
