ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH LADIES GUILD THANKSGIVING MASS will be
celebrated by Fr. Alvin Ng, SJ at the Day Chapel on Saturday, 7th February at 9:00
am. All Ladies Guild members are cordially invited to attend.
THE 1ACS HOSTEL under the Association of Churches In Sarawak (A.C.S.) has

A RED MASS FOR THE OPENING OF THE NEW LEGAL YEAR will be
celebrated for the first time in Kuching by Archbishop John Ha on Saturday, 14th
February, 9:00 am at the Holy Trinity Church, Kenyalang. This mass is especially
for those in the judiciary, lawyers and all who are in one way or another involved in
the administration of justice to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit for the new legal
year 2015. Lawyers are to come robed in open court attire. All are welcome!
BRIEFING FOR BAPTISM OF BABIES in English will be held on Sunday, 15th
February immediately after the 3rd Mass in this Cathedral. Both parents and
Godparent must attend the briefing and bring along the family record book and a
photocopy of your baby’s birth certificate.
COMBINED REQUIEM MASS will be celebrated on Friday, 27th February. Please
hand in your prayer intention latest by Thursday, 26th February.

ST. JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL PARISH FEAST DAY - Our Apostolic Nuncio,
Archbishop Joseph Salvador Marino together with Archbishop John Ha will
celebrate the Mass for the Solemnity of St. Joseph on Thursday, 19th March at
6:30 pm in the Cathedral. During this mass, we will also commemorate our Holy
Father’s Second Anniversary as Pope.
MASS WITH ANOINTING OF THE SICK in conjunction with World Day of the Sick
will be celebrated especially for the elderly and the sick on Wednesday, 11th
February at 7:30 pm in the Cathedral. There will be Blessing of Oil for private
home use during this mass. The 5:30 pm daily mass will be cancelled in view of
our priests’ monthly meeting & recollection that day.
The Parish Council will be organising a Buffet Dinner for our parishioners
immediately after the Mass at St. Joseph Grand Hall, Level 3,
A.C.C.P.C. from 7:45 pm - 9:45 pm. Please call Nelly (Tel: 082-423424) to book
your Buffet Dinner tickets selling at RM15 only per person (children below 5 years
old - FREE).
APPEAL FOR ORANGES - Parishioners are kindly requested to donate oranges
for blessing and distribution during the Chinese New Year Thanksgiving Mass.
Please send your oranges to the Parish Office by Friday, 13th February.
THE BIBLE TIMELINE SERIES: THE GREAT ADVENTURE - STORY OF
SALVATION is a Catholic Bible Study course organised by the Parish on every
Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm commencing from 21st April until 3rd
November. Registered participants will be notified on the actual venue in due
course. Registration fee is RM155 per head. Interested, do submit your registration
form with payment to the Cathedral Parish Office early as places are limited. Fees
are to cover all materials required for this great adventure. Registration forms are
available from the Parish Office and church entrances. For more information,

BLESSING OF PERSONAL ORANGES will be carried out on Friday, 13th
February during the 5:30 pm daily mass in the Cathedral. Please wrap and label
your personal oranges stating your name clearly. There will be no blessing of
personal oranges during the Chinese New Year Thanksgiving Mass.

PARISH SUNDAY SCHOOL 2015 INTAKE - Parents with children ages between 5
to 17 years (particularly those studying in schools with no catechism classes) are
urged to enrol them with the Parish Sunday School immediately. This is to prepare
them for Sacraments like Baptism, First Holy Communion or Confirmation in due

ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH TUITION CENTRE is now open for enrolment for year
2015 tuition classes for Primary 1 to Form 5 level. Subjects offered are English,
Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, Science, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and
Additional Mathematics. Subjects for Form 1, 2 & 3 will be taught using the latest
PT3 format. Special classes to cater for students with learning difficulties in Bahasa
Melayu and Mathematics are also available. Parents are encouraged to take full
advantage of our very own Tuition Centre to help your children excel in their

CHINESE NEW YEAR THANKSGIVING MASS will be celebrated in the Cathedral
on Thursday, 19th February at 8:00 am. The usual 5:30 pm daily mass at the Day
Chapel will be cancelled.
CHINESE NEW YEAR GATHERING 2015 is organised by the Association of the
Chinese Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Kuching on Sunday, 1st March from
11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Grand Hall, Level 3, A.C.C.P.C.. ALL are
welcome!
THE TUN TAN CHENG LOCK COLLEGE OF NURSING, ASSUNTA HOSPITAL
(founded by a group of missionaries from the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary
(FMM) & located beside the Assumption Church in Petaling Jaya) is offering

ASH WEDNESDAY this year falls on 18th February which also happens to be
Chinese New Year Eve. The Archbishop has written a circular to all parishes
stating that: “The Ash Wednesday Liturgy is to be observed while the fasting,
abstinence and penance are left to the individuals.”
