¡Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo!
Este miércoles 7 de diciembre, tendremos Misa de Vigilia por la Inmaculada Concepción a las 5 pm en inglés. El jueves 8 de diciembre tendremos misas en inglés a las 6:30, 8:30, 10:00 am, 12:10 pm y 5:00 pm; en
Vietnamita a las 6:15 pm, y en Español a las 7:30 pm. Por favor vengan a celebrar la Fiesta de María y oren
por la paz en el mundo y nuestra familia.
La salvación es obra de Dios, nosotros no podemos ganar Sus bendiciones. La primera lectura de hoy, de
Isaías, enfatiza que, a través de su Hijo, Dios hace toda la salvación. Por otro lado, debemos cooperar con
Dios porque Él no puede forzar su bondad sobre nosotros. Es por eso que Juan el Bautista en el Evangelio de
hoy nos convoca a desempeñar nuestra parte esencial llevando vidas de arrepentimiento, conversión y renovación, preparando así el camino para la segunda venida del Señor. Comenzamos este proceso preparándonos
para la celebración de la Navidad, la primera venida del Señor.
Debido al mal ejemplo de los sucesores infieles del Rey David, el Pueblo Elegido está vacilando en su lealtad
a Yahveh. De ahí que Isaías, en la primera lectura, intente disipar sus temores y despertar esperanza entre su
pueblo con la promesa de Dios de un nuevo rey davídico (hijo de Jesse), que establecerá la paz y un glorioso
Reino de justicia en la tierra. En la segunda lectura, Pablo está orando por los cristianos judíos de Roma y les
instruye como atraer resistencia y aliento de los libros del Antiguo Testamento. Deben vivir en armonía con
los cristianos gentiles, aceptándolos como iguales y hermanos mientras esperan la segunda venida de Jesús.
En el Evangelio de hoy, Juan el Bautista insta a los fariseos y saduceos a que den testimonio de que pretenden
reformar sus vidas para reconocer y aceptar el Mesías prometido. Los desafía al arrepentimiento, a la conversión ya la renovación. Él le dice a la gente común, que esperan que el Mesías venga en un futuro cercano, a
actuar con justicia y caridad, dejando que sus vidas reflejen la transformación que ocurrirá cuando el Mesías
entre en sus vidas. De la misma manera, mientras nos preparamos para recibir a Cristo en Navidad, Juan nos
aconseja que preparemos el camino del Señor.

PREPARA EL CAMINO
San Juan Bautista aparece hoy
cuando el Adviento comienza
su segunda semana. Juan, el
misterioso consumidor de saltamontes y miel silvestre, hace eco de las palabras del
profeta Isaías en su llamado al arrepentimiento en la
cercanía del Reino de los cielos. Los ritmos de la
vida cristiana son muchas veces confusos. Todos los
años conocemos a Juan Bautista y oímos su llamado
al arrepentimiento. Todos los años lo vemos señalando al que vendrá después de él, al Señor Jesús. Sin
embargo, cada año las palabras y las acciones de
Juan Bautista hacen eco de nuevo en nuestro corazón, porque hemos caído una y otra vez en antiguas
trampas pecaminosas.
El Adviento nos da otra oportunidad para alejarnos
del camino del pecado y aceptar el modo de vida del
Evangelio. Juan Bautista nos invita a preparar el camino para el Señor en quien depositamos nuestra

The Men’s retreat will be on January 13-15 and

Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in the city of Sierra Madre.
The Passionist retreat team offer inspirational talks
on the theme, as well as time for quiet prayer, Mass,
Reconciliation, and Stations of the Cross. The theme
for this year is “The Crucified One Is No Stranger”.

kept in the North Solomon Islands during the war.

Parish Office and Church are immediately closed at 10:00 am.
