Reflections on the
Sunday Readings
Come walk with me… to the upper room… to Jerusalem… The call of Jeremiah, prophet of the late seventh and
early sixth centuries B.C., is featured in today’s first
reading. Jeremiah had a special relationship with God
(“Before you were born I consecrated you”). His
mission was enormously challenged (“stand up and tell
them everything that I command you”) and the Lord
would protect him (“for I am with you … to deliver
you”). Jeremiah is a courageous spokesperson!
to Gethsemane… to the trial…to the cross… to the world… “Come Walk with Me!”
A Special Cantata on the Passion and
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Performed by St. Brendan Sanctuary Choir with
Luke presents Jesus today as prophet heralding the
dawning of a new age. The people’s reaction is
disconcerting. First there is amazement, how could this
local citizen claim such power? Then there is
indignation -- a plot to slay the prophet by hurling him
over the edge of the hill! Obviously, pain and hostility
must be endured before Jesus’ new age comes to
glory.
We, too, by our common baptism and unique calling,
are prophets for the kingdom. We will encounter many
reactions, not all of them positive. Like Jeremiah and
Jesus, unswerving dedication and bold courage must
be our trademarks.
The Stations of the Cross
will be prayed every Friday

Cuarto Domingo Ordinario
has dado a conocer a los sencillos (Lc 10,21-22).
