Collect
Almighty and ever-living God,
clothed in majesty,
whose beloved Son
was this day presented in the Temple,
in substance of our flesh:
grant that we may be presented to you
with pure and clean hearts,
by your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen
Post
Communion
Lord, you fulfilled the hope of Simeon and Anna,
who lived to welcome the Messiah:
may we, who have received these gifts beyond words,
prepare to meet Christ Jesus when he comes
to bring us to eternal life;
for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever. Amen

Nunc dimittis (The Song of Simeon – part of today’s Gospel Reading)
1
Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace:
according to thy word.
2
For mine eyes have seen:
thy salvation;
3
Which thou hast prepared:
before the face of all people;
4
To be a light to lighten the Gentiles:
and to be the glory of thy people Israel. Luke 2.29-32
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son:
and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be :
world without end. Amen.

so that we can get to know you.

Gardiner will give a talk entitled "World War II in Worthing". The meeting will conclude
with a cup of tea or coffee. The Men’s Fellowship is open to all men in the area, including

Lent Course: in addition to the Lent groups organised by Churches Together in
Rustington, as in previous years, we intend to provide an opportunity ‘in house’ to
explore the Christian faith together, seeing how it can be lived out each day.
Information about Pilgrim, A Course for the Christian Journey, can be found on the
reverse side of the insert in this week’s n/sheet. Please speak to Christine or myself if
you might be interested in order that we can decide whether to offer both an afternoon
group (probably Wed) as well as one meeting in the evening (probably Thur). ZA
Saturday February 14th. We look forward to seeing you at The Children’s
Society’s Coffee Morning from 10.00-12.00. Browse our many stalls, including

to the Worthing Churches Homeless Project. I am at coffee break on a Wednesday morning to
receive your donations.

The Basket was overflowing last Sunday. Very many thanks for your generosity. All
those ‘goodies’ will be greatly appreciated by the families supported by Rebecca Carter.

Church Clock - Some of you may have noticed that the clock is not working.
Unfortunately, there was a failure of the mechanism that winds the clock and so it will
not work. As part of the proposals for the Re-ordering of the church, the clock is to be
taken away to be overhauled and have a new winding mechanism fitted. It will then
return and be installed in the bell tower behind a new clock face. In view of this it may
not be worth repairing the broken mechanism.

Confirmation represents a significant stage in the journey of faith. Every year, there are two or
three opportunities during the year for parishes within the Deanery to present candidates – young
people (normally Yr 6 and older) and adults – to be confirmed by the Bishop. We have usually
opted to present candidates at the Deanery Confirmation in June, and so it would be helpful if we
could know how many candidates it might be our privilege to prepare this year. Please let
Christine or me know if you think you might be interested. Many thanks - ZA
Ready, Willing and Able – What a wonderful day! Thank you to all those involved in this
event, both the stall holders and the visitors, we had a good day. In addition to the warmth and
buzz, it is so pleasing to announce that there were 44 offers of help on the day. This is fantastic
and some of the people are already sharing their gifts. A report has been submitted to the PCC
and a full report will be available on the church website shortly.
