November 22, 2015
November 22, 2015, Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Views from Fr. Larry Pichard, Pastor
Visiones del Párroco, Pbro. Larry Pichard
On November 8, our parish participated in the
Diocesan Campaign called “Our Faith…Our Future,” in
which all the parishes of the diocese seek to raise $125
million for the improvement of our diocese. We continue to
thank you for your generous pledges which have already
surpassed our parish goal of $2 million. Remember that we
get to keep 30% of your donations; once we surpass our
goal, we get to keep 70% of excess donations.
Within a month or two you will receive an envelope
from the Diocese of Dallas although the upper left side of
the envelope will read “Our Faith…Our Future.” Enclosed
will be a statement from the Diocese and a return envelope
in which you will place your donation and send to the
Catholic Foundation which is processing all the Campaign
donations.
We will keep you posted on the pledge total from
St. Francis as pledge cards continue to be submitted and as
the Catholic Foundation continues to process cards
received.
Once again, thank you so much for your generosity.
Last week, although Bishop Farrell was in Washington, D.C.,
he received an email from the Catholic Foundation about
our successful pledges, and he personally called me to
express his thankfulness to the parishioners of St. Francis
for your generosity! It was our pledges that finally helped
the Campaign meet the Diocesan goal of $125 million. Be
legitimately proud of what you did, and take a graceful bow.
Join us for Thanksgiving Day Masses: 6:30 a.m. in
the Chapel in English, 8:30 a.m. in the Church in English, or
10:00 a.m. in the Church in Spanish. The entire collection
that day will go to our parish St. Vincent de Paul Society
which will distribute our charity to the needy. No
confessions on that Thursday.
Next weekend we not only begin the new liturgical
year but also begin the wonderful, hopeful, exciting season
of Advent as we make room in our hearts to celebrate the
birth of our Savior.
