October 11, 2015, Twenty-Eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Views from Fr. Larry Pichard, Pastor
Do you remember the missionary priest we had in
August? He was Fr. Tom Hagan who was the sole priest for
500,000 people in the poorest area of Haiti. I remember his
powerful message, and I remember your amazingly
generous response. Well, next weekend is World Mission
Sunday. Most of the time, living here in the USA and
especially in Frisco, we are unaware of what many human
beings are suffering in other countries. Fr. Hagan made us
very aware of Haiti, but may we be equally concerned about
our fellow Catholics living in very poor areas of the world.
May we be equally generous next weekend as we support
Word Mission Sunday!
Voter registration is today after all Masses in the
Parish Center. All citizens of the USA should vote. You vote
as you choose, but we believe you should form your
decision based on principles of justice and public good. Our
bishops have outlined those principles in the document
Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship: A Call to
Political Responsibility. You may read the whole text at

Please pray for all the Spanish-speaking women
who are completing their ACTS retreat this Sunday during
the 1:15 Mass. And then start praying for the Englishspeaking women who begin their retreat next Thursday and
will conclude during the 11:30 Mass next Sunday.
Together we thank all the parishioners who planned
and hosted the Annual Mexican Dinner and Cultural Day
(AMDCD) on September 26. Yoheli Perez successfully
directed a planning committee of at least a dozen people
and a group of about 200 volunteers. They worked for
months to plan this wonderful event. And thanks to all
parishioners who participated in dinner, the many
entertainment events during the day, the bounce houses,
the climbing wall, the face painting, and the 32 cultural
tents that exhibited how the Catholic Faith is lived and
celebrated in their countries of origin. If you happened to
have missed the event, don’t worry—next September we
will celebrate the 42nd Annual Mexican Dinner and Cultural
Day (AMDCD).

¿Recuerdan al sacerdote misionero que tuvimos en
agosto? Era el padre Tom Hagan quien era el único sacerdote para 500,000 personas en la zona más pobre de Haití.
Recuerdo el poderoso mensaje del Padre Tom, y me acuerdo de la respuesta extraordinaria y generosa de ustedes.
Bueno, el próximo fin de semana es la Jornada Mundial de
las Misiones. La mayor parte del tiempo, vivir aquí en los
EE.UU. y en especial en Frisco, no somos conscientes acerca de lo que muchos seres humanos están sufriendo en
otros países. El Padre Hagan nos hizo muy conscientes de la
situación de Haití, pero debemos estar igualmente conscientes y preocupados por nuestros hermanos católicos
que viven en zonas muy pobres del mundo. ¡Ojalá que podamos ser igualmente generosos el próximo fin de semana
cuando apoyemos el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones!

Requirements to become an EM are that you must be an active
practicing Catholic who is at least 15 years of age, have received

5450 will be hosting the Squires Diocesan Conference. This conference is open to all young men between the ages of 10 - 18 who
are interested or have questions about the Columbian Squires.
This conference will be attended by all Squires Circles in our Dioceses. It is also open to all men in our Parish who are interested or
have questions about the Knights of Columbus. The conference
will be from 2-5 p.m. followed by Mass, from 5-6 p.m., and dinner
