A Message from our Pastoral Leader...
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
We are celebrating Priesthood Sunday this weekend. As we gather to
celebrate the Eucharist, we can reflect
upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church. We are
grateful to the many priests who have
served this parish during its 75 years.
We listed each one in the history book prepared for the
conclusion of the 75th anniversary celebration. We have
been blessed by the generosity of many priests during
these past four months of transition.
We are all called to live our baptismal call. Over the
course of life, God calls each person to a particular vocation. Some men are called to ordained ministry as priests.
The ministry of priests is to serve God’s mission in the
world.
Who have you invited to consider the priesthood, religious life, permanent diaconate, or lay ministry in the
Church? Who among the younger members of our parish
is being called to priesthood or religious life? Do we
bring up the subject of these vocations in our homes?
Statistics show that 80% of 18-30 year olds in the United
States and Canada have never been asked to consider a
Church vocation.
I was present for the Mass to open the celebration for
the The Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos on October 10th.
Bishop David Ricken was the celebrant. Toward the end
of Mass, he invited those to come forward for a blessing
who even briefly thought about being priest. Three persons came forward. He requested the same for those who
may have thought about being a Sister. Again, three persons came forward. Among those six young people,
there was a variety of age groups. It truly touched my
heart.
We pray in thankfulness for the gift of Church vocations. Let us set aside time each day to pray for vocations
to the priesthood, religious life, permanent diaconate and
lay ministry in the Church. We need all of these people.
We remember in a special way, José López, our seminarian, who is studying at St. Francis Seminary in
Milwaukee.

Legal documents that everyone needs: (continued from
last week)
In last weekend’s bulletin it was noted that even college
students and other young adults should establish a will. In
addition, other important documents for people of all ages
are:
Powers of Attorney – these are legal documents that
name someone to act on your behalf if you are unable to act for yourself. They are very powerful and
helpful documents to have in the event something
would happen and you are incapacitated. In the
absence of powers of attorney, parents or other
loved ones may need to go to court to get this authorization – this can be a lengthy, arduous process. Generally there are two powers of attorney
that should be considered: a healthcare power of
attorney and a financial power of attorney.
Advance Health Care Directive (sometimes also known
as a living will) – this document works with your
healthcare power of attorney and states your legally
binding preferences regarding life-sustaining treatment in case you are in a “permanent unconscious
condition or have a terminal illness.”

OPORTUNIDAD DE TRABAJO
La Parroquia de San Felipe está buscando una
persona para servir como empleado sustituto de
limpieza. Las horas son variables y el horario
depende de la necesidad – podría ser durante el
día o la noche. La persona debe saber algo de
inglés. Si está interesado, póngase en contacto
con la oficina parroquial.
Estamos celebrando el “Domingo
del Sacerdocio” este fin de semana.
Al reunirnos para celebrar la Eucaristía, podemos reflexionar y afirmar
el papel del sacerdocio en la vida de
la Iglesia. Estamos muy agradecidos a los numerosos sacerdotes que nos han servido en
nuestra parroquia durante los últimos 75 años. Hicimos una lista de cada uno en el libro de historia preparado para la conclusión de la celebración de nuestro
aniversario. La generosidad de muchos sacerdotes
durante estos cuatro meses de transición nos ha bendecido.
Todos estamos llamados a vivir nuestra llamada
bautismal. En el transcurso de la vida, Dios llama a
cada persona a una vocación específica. Algunos hombres son llamados al ministerio sacerdotal para servir a
la misión de Dios en el mundo.
¿A quién ha invitado usted a considerar el sacerdocio, la vida religiosa, el diaconado permanente, o el
ministerio de laicos en la iglesia? ¿Quién entre los
miembros más jóvenes de nuestra parroquia está escuchando ahora el llamado al sacerdocio o a la vida religiosa? ¿Conversamos sobre el tema de las vocaciones
en nuestros hogares? Las estadísticas muestran que el
80% de jóvenes entre 18-30 años de edad en los Estados Unidos y Canadá no recibió nunca una invitación
para considerar una vocación dentro de la Iglesia.
Estuve presente en la Misa de la apertura de la celebración de la Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos el 10 de
octubre. Obispo David Ricken fue el celebrante principal. Hacia el final de la Misa, les invitó a acercarse
para una bendición los jóvenes que aun brevemente
habían pensado en ser sacerdote. Se acercaron tres
personas. Pidió lo mismo para aquellas que habían
pensado en ser una hermana religiosa. Otra vez, se
acercaron tres personas. Entre los seis jóvenes, había
una variedad de edades. Realmente tocó mi corazón.
Rezamos en agradecimiento por el regalo de vocaciones. Tomemos tiempo cada día para orar por las
vocaciones al sacerdocio, a la vida religiosa, al diaconado permanente y al laicado en la iglesia. Necesitamos a todas estas personas. Recordamos de manera
especial a José López, nuestro seminarista, quien estudia en St. Francis Seminary en Milwaukee.

PARA REFLEXIONAR
¿Se han fijado una vez en las figuras que hay en las
monedas? Cada país tiene caras distintas, generalmente de personas muy conocidas en la nación. No
es que las monedas pertenezcan a ellos sino que son
del país que representan. Jesús les dice a los
fariseos que den al Cesar lo que es suyo, ya que
lleva su imagen, y a Dios lo que es de Dios. Es
decir, A Dios, lo que lleve la imagen de Dios. ¿Qué
lleva la imagen de Dios? No las monedas de metal,
pero sí, las monedas vivas que son todas sus obras.
Toda la creación lleva el sello de Dios, pero sobre
todo los seres humanos, creados a su imagen y
semejanza.
¿En qué maneras me hago consciente de la
dignidad que tengo como hijo/a amado de Dios?
¿Cómo inculco a mis hijos el respeto por sí mismos
y por todo ser humano y toda la creación?

les gustaría llevarla de nuevo a su casa,

RECORDATORIO
Les hacemos recordar que es posible colocar una vela
en una de las ventanas de la Iglesia con el nombre de
un ser querido que ha fallecido. El costo de la vela es

el Santo Matrimonio ayer en nuestra parroquia. Rezamos que Dios

PROYECTO DE RECONSTRUCCIÓN
Después de meses de polvo y ruido, el proyecto de
reconstrucción en San Felipe casi ha terminado. El
personal de la parroquia está en sus nuevos oficinas
y los niños de la escuela publica están ocupando
cuatro nuevas aulas en el basement. Tendrán la
oportunidad de ver los cambios después de la misa
el domingo, 2 de noviembre.
QUINCEAÑERAS Y MATRIMONIOS
Si están pensando en celebrar un Matrimonio o una
quinceañera en San Felipe en 2015, ahora es tiempo
para acercarse a la Oficina y colocar la fecha en el
calendario de la parroquia para asegurar que tenga
la fecha que desea.

Este año el 1 de noviembre cae en el día sábado; NO
ES un día de precepto. El domingo, 2 de noviembre,
tendremos la Misa a las 12:00 como siempre . En la
Misa recordaremos los fieles difuntos. Recibirán sobres en la Misa hoy para escribir los nombres de sus
seres queridos y colocar su donación. Deben devolver
los sobres el próximo domingo; leeremos los nombres
en la Misa del 2 de noviembre.

Y como si ya Te hubiera recibido, Te abrazo y me uno del todo a Ti, Señor. No permitas
