My Dear Friends!
Following my ordination 42 years ago, I was assigned to
my first Parish, Mother of God in Majinda, Goa where Pastor
Rev. Bacilio Andrade, 85 years old and a man of strong faith
would constantly assure me in Konkani, and it still remains
in my mind: “Der Korta Ti Vatt”. Translated; Dios lleva
recto por caminos torcidos; “God leads us in the right
direction through crooked paths.” How true this is! There
are many forks in the road and crooked paths along the way,
but we have to trust God; put your lives in His hands and
persist.
From the beginning my journey to St. Mary from the
lovely Parish of St. Lawrence O’Toole, Brewster, I had no
idea of St. Mary’s but I put my trust in God. I started my
first Parish in NYC as a first time Pastor. Some people
didn’t help me to grow smoothly, but God’s hand was there
helping me. Who can imagine Fr. Alfredo, a foreigner,
would be the member of the Advisory Board of Cardinal?
God knew why I was here. I made history in St. Mary’s only
because of my trust in Him. Thank God I came to know
many things about what was going to occur at the
Archdiocese of NY through these meetings of M.A.T.N.
St. Mary is a wonderful Parish, I love St. Mary’s. Please
be mature parishioners of deep faith. Don’t allow yourselves
to be manipulated by other people. You are all great people,
and all have a right to participate and do things for the
growth of the Parish.
During my 4 years, I observed you, the parishioners
living out the gifts of faith, hope and charity, I realized that
this does not just happen randomly there is a great spirit at
St. Mary’s. I know and I was happy that St. Mary’s
parishioners pray for each other, please keep praying in this
spirit and get together in praising.
I would like to thank each one of ministry groups which
help our church tremendously. There is space here so really I
thank from the bottom of my heart each one of you who
helped and collaborated with me.
My thanks to the 2 deacons who were with me Joe
Patrona & Larry Battersby. I also thank Yolanda & Ray who
are very close to me. I also want to thank the Parish Trustees
and Finance Committee Members and all the ministries of
our beloved Church.
My good wishes and prayers to my great successor; Rev.
Frank Scanlon, a priest with vast knowledge, with great
pastoral experience. May God bless him and give him all the
energy to work in this beautiful parish.
My parishioners of St. Mary’s, I love you, I pray for you
and you pray for me.

Mis queridos amigos!
Después de mi ordenación 42 años atras, me asignaron a mi
primera parroquia, Madre de Dios en Majinda, Goa, donde el
Pastor Rev. Bacilio Andrade, de 85 años y un hombre de gran fe
constantemente me aseguraba en konkani, y todavía permanece
en mi mente: "Der Korta Te Vatt". Traducción; "Dios nos lleva
en la dirección correcta por caminos torcidos." ¿Qué tan cierto
es esto! Hay muchas bifurcaciones en los caminos torcidos
carretera y en el camino, pero tenemos que confiar en Dios;
pongan sus vidas en sus manos y persistir.
Desde el principio de mi viaje a Santa María de la hermosa
parroquia de San Lawrence O'Toole en Brewster, no tenía
ninguna idea de Santa María pero puse mi confianza en Dios.
Comencé mi primera parroquia en Nueva York como un primer
Pastor tiempo. Algunas personas no me ayudaron a crecer sin
problemas, pero la mano de Dios estaba allí ayudándome.
¿Quién puede imaginar que yo, Padre Alfredo, un extranjero,
sería el miembro de la Junta Asesora del cardenal? Dios sabía
por qué estaba aquí. Hice historia en Santa María sólo por mi
confianza en Él. Gracias a Dios llegué a conocer muchas cosas
acerca de lo que iba a ocurrir en la Arquidiócesis de Nueva
York a través de estas reuniones de HNTC.
Santa María es una parroquia maravillosa, me encanta
Santa María. Tiene feligreses maduros de fe profunda. No se
dejen manipular por otras personas. Todos ustedes son gran
personas, y todos tienen derecho a participar y hacer cosas para
el crecimiento de la Parroquia.
Durante mis 4 años, yo observé los feligreses que viven los
dones de la fe, la esperanza y la caridad, me di cuenta de que
esto no sólo sucede al azar hay un gran espíritu en Sta. María.
Yo sé, y estaba feliz de que los feligreses de Sta. María oran por
los demás, por favor sigan orando en este espíritu y se reúnen
para alabar.
Me gustaría dar las gracias a cada uno de los grupos de
ministerio que ayudan a nuestra Iglesia enormemente. No hay
espacio aquí, así que realmente agradezco desde el fondo de mi
corazón a cada uno de ustedes que ayudaron y colaboraron
conmigo.
Mi agradecimiento a los 2 diáconos que estaban conmigo
Joe Patrona y Larry Battersby. También agradezco a Yolanda &
Ray que están muy cerca de mí. También quiero dar las gracias
a los miembros Custodios parroquiales y del Comité de
Finanzas y de todos los ministerios de nuestra amada Iglesia.
Mis mejores deseos y oraciones a mi gran sucesor; Rev.
Frank Scanlon, un sacerdote con gran conocimiento, con gran
experiencia pastoral. Que Dios le bendiga y le de toda la energía
para trabajar en esta hermosa parroquia.
Mis feligreses de Santa María, los amo, rezo por ustedes y
les pido que recen por mí.
CAMPAMENTO DE VERANO
Voluntarios adolescentes por favor estén en el salón el sáb, 01
de agosto a las 9:30am hasta que se termine la decoración.
También tendremos reunión para repasar sus responsabilidades
y recoger su camiseta. Refrescos estarán disponibles incluyendo
pizza.
