Respect for Life - 40 Days for Life – Spring 2015
To our St. Patrick parishioners: Did you know that Planned Parenthood Norristown
performed well over 600 abortions during 2014 at their facility at Powell & Wood Streets,
just a few minutes from our Church. To address this horrific situation, local pro-life
organizations participate with the National and International 40 Days for Life campaigns
each autumn and spring. The spring campaign which begins February 18 happens
concurrently with the 40 days of Lent. During that time pro-lifers offer continuous
prayers, fasting and public witness at an abortion facility (PP Norristown). The goal is to
close these facilities by offering mothers and father’s alternative supportive choices so
they can say no to abortion and yes to life. Catholic Social Services at St. Paul’s (New
Hope St. and Johnson Highway) is a very active support service for women
experiencing a crisis pregnancy. They are available Monday thru Friday during
regular business hours. They can be reached at 610-279-7372. Ask for Liz, the
pro-life coordinator. In particular, besides practical day to day help, they can
facilitate foster care or adoption services. We are asking once again that our
parishioners participate by designating their prayers and fasting throughout Lent for the
intention of closing PP Norristown. If any parishioner would like to volunteer to be a
witness and would like information and guidance, please call Marie Torrence at 610-2774958. Witness simply involves standing in front of PP and praying for an hour. If anyone
would like to financially support a crisis pregnancy center, may we recommend A Baby’s
Breath, 2062 West Main St., Jeffersonville, 610-630-9630. Their web site is
ababysbreath.org If anyone is currently in a crisis pregnancy, they have a 24 hour phone
line at 484-571-5540. Their e-mail is [email protected] if anyone would like to
volunteer some time. Thank you for your prayers and help. St. Patrick’s Respect Life
