Here’s a brief except from it. “I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and woke up with gum in my hair. When I got out of bed I tripped over my skateboard. I dropped my new sweater in the bathtub. I had a terrible day at school. I had to visit the dentist. And mom cooked lima beans for supper and I hate lima beans. My bath was too hot and I got soap in my eyes. My marble went down the drain in the tub. My cat went to sleep with Anthony and not with me. It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day and I think I’ll move to Australia.” Children experience stress, adults do as well. The word means to become tight. It is a mental, emotional, physical impact of people, situations, circumstances with produce strain and tension and anxiety in our lives. How do we deal with stress? 1. Recognize that some stress is normal in every life. James reminds us that the testing of our faith produces patience. 2. Develop a positive attitude. If we get into a stress-mess, and if we have a positive attitude, it will help us get through it. 3. Get some physical exercise. Paul told Timothy that bodily exercise does profit a little. 4. Develop a sense of humor. It has been well said that he who learns to laugh at himself will never cease to be entertained. 5. Feed our spirit. The more we feed our spirit on spiritual things, the better we will cope with stress. 6. Lean hard on the Lord. 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.” 7. Be involved with the family in the church. The church is the place where we encourage one another and help one another in times of stress. Isaiah 26:3, “The steadfast of min Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in Thee.” Just remember “stressed” spelled backwards is “desserts.” - Allan Eldridge MISSIONS -Eastern European Mission (Bibles) -Lima, Peru -Kemelton Harawa - Malawi, Africa - Derrick John - Moraikobai, Guyana -Vitaly Rodichev - Ukraine -Steven Lucas - Hurley, Mississippi DEACONS James Breckenridge - Communion, Disaster Relief Skip Burris - Worship Service Bubba Bullington - Audio Visual Media Randy Curry - Food Give Away Russ Davidson - Involvement, Member Board Mark Erwin - Legal, Youth Dale Eubanks - Seniors David Haynes - Worship Service, Grounds Maurice James - Finance, Audio Visual Media Tony Kendall - Missions Casey Melton - Lads to Leaders David Pahman - Education Mike Shavers - Benevolence, Communion to Shut-ins Tommy Wasden - Family Ministry, Attendance, Transportation YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTER - Andrew Howell MINISTER - Allan Eldridge ELDERS Jerrold Eubanks Marvin Dean Jimbo Jordan *George Holcomb *Chairman for the month of February OFFICE INFORMATION Nancy Talbot, Office Manager Email: [email protected] Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm Phone (251) 345-8050 Fax (251) 345-8051 WEBSITE - WEBMASTER www.regencycc.org Andrew Howell WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Sunday Bible Class: 9 am Worship: 10 am & 6 pm Wednesday Morning: 10:30 am Evening: 7 pm FOR THE RECORD February 1, 2015 Sunday Bible Class . . . . . . . . . . 208 Sunday Morning Worship . . . . . . 325 Sunday Evening Worship . . . . . . 98 Contribution . . . . . . . . . . . . . $14,167 . . .
