The person is active and ambulatory, but unable to drive. Residence is just off Charter Colony, near John Tyler. This person is most anxious to worship with us and be a part of Epiphany. The Shepherd’s Center has an urgent need again for volunteer drivers for transportation to urgent medical appointments and grocery shopping for the elderly in the community, so they can maintain a more independent lifestyle. This past year (July 2013 to June 2014), Shepherd’s Center volunteer drivers provided 621 free, accompanied rides to critical medical appointments and grocery shopping and enrolled over 403 senior adults into our programs. You can help by offering a few hours of your time to provide a ride, in-home handyman services, and low-cost classes to adults over 50. You can make a difference in the community by volunteering only a couple of hours a month! Become a part of this close-knit volunteer community; you may need their help someday, too! Little Sisters of the Poor has a vacancy at their eldercare facility, St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, for a fillin night security guard to work for time off of full-time staff. Church of the Epiphany Richmond, Virginia Youth Ministry Hilliard House First Wednesday Meals! COOK OR SERVE! High School Youth Council and other youth group members are needed to serve dinner at the house at 5:30pm. Meals should be for approximately 10 adults and between 15-20 kids. Our group will need to arrive at about 4:45-5pm to serve. Dinner lasts until 6:30 pm. Our NEXT meal will be on February 4th. Diocesan Youth Conference will be held February 27th – March 1st at the Richmond Marriot near the Convention Center. Cost is $170 per youth (including meals, lodging, t-shirt and events). Middle and High School Christian Formation will have its next session on Sunday, February 8th from 3-5pm. This is a parish event as well – all families are welcome! PROJECT H2 is our High School Youth Council’s initiative to raise awareness and gather donations of new or gently used/clean TEEN clothing for our brothers and sisters at Hilliard House, a transitional homeless shelter for women and their children. Donations can be brought to Sarah Brockwell’s office at any time. HH also offers support to those families that transition from the shelter to a home. Project H2 will accept donations for TEENS like bedding, small kitchen appliances, room decorations, etc. This is a year-round initiative! VIRTUS Training is the Diocese of Richmond’s program to attend to the safety of all children. Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Miscellaneous Art Notes – 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time In the Centrum are two pieces depicting the teaching aspect of the start of Jesus’ ministry. One is a copy of “Christ the Teacher”, one of the best known depictions of Jesus in Byzantine iconography. He raises one hand in blessing while holding the book of the Gospels in the other. The second piece, “Jesus Teaching a small Crowd” is a three-dimensional wall sculpture by contemporary artist Suzanne Young of Berkley, Michigan. In the Blessed Sacrament Chapel is a small painting on tile “Jesus Teaching Children”, by contemporary artist Mario Franchi of Assisi, Italy. A new 9-week support group for widowed men and women will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm, beginning in mid-March (exact date to be announced later). It will be held in Bon Air off Buford Road. Topics and discussions include normal grieving behaviors and feelings, loss of identity and changed roles, setting goals for the future, and addressing social needs and relationships.
