Camp Sierra Linda Mission Work Trip The Place Camp Sierra Linda – this camp serves more than 2500 children annually. It is located in the mountains of Mexico approximately one hour south of the city of Monterrey, Mexico. The Experience Will include the construction aspects of the trip but will also devote time to building relationships with leaders and communities in the region. There will also be some free time available. Living Accommodations We will be staying at the camp. There are cabins with twin size bunk beds. Our meals will be provided at the camp. The shower house is separate from the cabins and is fairly new. The Need Their facilities are in desperate need of repair. They lack what we would consider basic camp amenities such as a real basketball hoop/court/and or/soccer goals, which they call futbol. We will probably be working on construction. More information on our work will be provided at the orientation meeting. Trip Preparations All participants must have a valid passport. There will be a MANDATORY team meeting to be announced at a later date. It is required that each person has an updated tetanus shot. Our Purpose This Volunteers in Mission work team is a group of volunteers who share their time, talents, and money for this mission. The volunteers (their local church and/or other support groups) pay their own travel and material expenses so they can participate in this mission. They do so because they have a strong, earnest desire in their hearts to serve others. The experience is one of sharing with others. It is working side-by-side and worshiping with our brothers and sisters in Christ in another country, living and working under conditions they experience daily. This is a West Ohio Conference endorsed mission and meets all of the requirements as set forth by United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. We are joining together for the greater good of Camp Sierra Linda. Do you remember going to church camp as a kid? Wasn’t it a time of deep connection to friends, to nature, and most importantly, to God? Camp Sierra Linda is a camp located high in the mountains south of Monterrey. Each year 2500+ young campers from across the Oriental Conference come to know the same life changing experience you had as a camper. Camp Sierra Linda is “holy ground.” We have a wonderful opportunity to join in the ministry of this camp through the mission trip in 2015. Please ask God how you are to once more become more deeply connected to God and to others through camping at Camp Sierra Linda. Combining our talents, strengths, & wealth. Remember! Collect Project Money and support from your home church and ask them to keep you and the camp in their prayers Obtain a passport Deposit and registration due by February 6, 2015 Balance due February 20, 2015 Come and be a partner in changing a child's life.
