The option of being just an ordinary person on earth is thrown out the window when we have committed our lives to Christ. Remember, Paul said, “I have been crucified…”, and ordinary people do not experience crucifixion! As you go through this devotional, consider how extraordinary we truly are and the ways we can be different than the ordinary things of this world. 1) Circle the things in this list that are alive? rock carpet fish door tree cell phone We know things are alive because they can do 3 extraordinary things; living things can grow, change, and reproduce. Read Ephesians 2:4-5: Consider what Paul says about our being alive as Christians. 2) Read 1 Corinthians 14:20: How are some ways you can continue to grow and show you are alive as a Christian? 3) Read Isaiah 1:16–17: What are some things God would tell you to change about yourself to show you are alive as a Christian? 4) Read Matthew 28:19: What are some ways to reproduce disciples of Christ? Being able to grow, change, and reproduce makes us extraordinary! I pray that as we walk this earth we are able to see just how extraordinary we are through the strength and power of God. I also pray that we will continue to search out ways to honor and glorify God with every action we take. May God bless you as you walk with Him at your side. -Mickey Volume 5 February 8, 2015 Who posed as her husband’s sister while in Egypt? Where has the year gone? This year the Riders for Christ are planning a service trip to Chicago, IL, over Spring Break. We will have the honor of once again working with the Northside Church of Christ’s Food Pantry to assist in giving out much needed food to those in need. I had a chance to see firsthand this past Spring Break just how many people in that area would go without the basic “staple foods” if it weren’t for this amazing ministry. We will also go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to repackage boxes of food for pantries to distribute. I find it so inspiring that our students are willing to give up their Spring Breaks to go to the “Windy City” instead of the beach or even the couch at Mom and Dad’s house. The Riders for Christ, Brian, and I would like to ask you to add us to your prayer lists. Please pray for this trip, not just that we will be safe, but that we will take full advantage of the opportunities that God will provide--opportunities to brighten someone’s day, to share God’s word, to be God’s hands, feet, and mouthpiece in this world. This congregation has been so supportive of this trip, and we truly thank you for that as well as ask your continued support of this trip. If you would like to help financially, you can give your donations to Joel, Brian, or Linda. Camp Kurios Reunion - It’s early February. The air is crisp and COLD and the grass is that perfect shade of brown, so you know what that means—IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR SUMMER CAMP!!!!!! I can just see it now, children running, kickballs being kicked, and relationships being developed and strengthened. Camp Kurios holds a special place in my heart, as well as the hearts of others here at Jackson Street. Do you know why? Well, I wish that I could explain it to you, but the best way is to show you. The great thing is that tonight, Camp Kurios is hosting a Camp Reunion at Beech Springs. I would like to take the opportunity to invite you to come out and see what everyone is talking about and be a part of camp life for a little bit. Who knows, you may just decide that you want to attend one of the three sessions this summer either as a camper or as a counselor. I will drive the church bus to the reunion tonight, so if you would like to ride along, come to the Student Center at 4 PM and join us. We will return around 8:30. Hope to see you there…here…you know what I mean. -Joel Volume 5 Serving List Scripture Reading Bible Verse Sermon Prayer Song Leader Nursery Workers February 8, 2015 Today, February 8 Carl Burdine Matthew 5:13-16 Brian Mickey Open: Paul McLendon Close: Paul Garris Mark Keith Micheala Roden Cassidy Smith Evening Scripture Reading Bible Verse Sermon Prayer Jack McLaughlin Haggai 2:4-5 Brian Mickey Open: David Connelly Close: Bob Stevens Song Leader Mark Keith Morning Scripture Reading Sermon Next Week, February 15 Michael Fondren Brian Mickey Open: Scott White Close: Ryan Holbrook Joel Bailey Sandy Keith Jill Zorsch Prayer Song Leader Nursery Workers Evening Scripture Reading Sermon Prayer Song Leader Don Goin Brian Mickey Open: Bopie Booth Close: Brandon Wallace Michael Fondren (Please notify Paul Garris or Ryan Holbrook if you cannot be present to perform your assigned duties.)
