MISSION STATEMENT
Sacred Heart Parish is a family of believers
rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ as
professed by the Catholic Church. We
open our lives to the wisdom of the Holy
Spirit that we may see all things in the
light of Faith.
We welcome all on our journey to the
Kingdom of God. Sacred Heart
nourishes the parish family through
the ministries of Evangelization,
Education, Sacramental Worship
and Christian Service.
We offer our time, talents and
treasure as stewards of God’s
Church. We call on each other’s
support as we build God’s Kingdom.
With our Lord’s help, we will live
the Gospel values of Faith, Hope,

Building & Maintenance Fund Envelope Collection
Next Weekend, July 30/31
Next weekend we will have our monthly second collection for our Building & Maintenance Fund. This
will be used for the upkeep of our aging buildings that need many repairs, and also for special projects and improvements that we will announce. The collection is much needed to help offset our church’s growing financial deficit and
keep our parish financially strong. This collection is going towards the re-coating with an epoxy/polymer coating the
garage floor. The south and north side entrances are now completed and you can see the finished floors, landings and
steps there. The stairwells and railing have been repainted. We are also replacing the glass panels on all the vestibule
doors in both entrances and rectory entrance. The Church and Marian Hall floors have been re-waxed. We will be remodeling the Sacristy, and refinishing the walls around the new Marian Hall air conditioning units

ear friends in Sacred Heart:
Please feel free to share this article with your children at home! Even though it is a
great message for our children, it may be a great lesson for adults as well.
At their November 2007 meeting the US Catholic Bishops issued a very warm and
friendly message to Catholic teenagers entitled, Stewardship and Teenagers: The Challenge of Being a Disciple. That statement included many recommendations that are
important for our young people and for Catholics of all ages. Here are just a few of the
Bishops’ recommendations:
 Choose a time every day for prayer, by yourself or perhaps in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Find the
time that seems most sacred for you, and take that time to spend alone with God.
 If possible, attend the Eucharist more than once a week. Trust us! God is always there, waiting to hear
from you and wanting you to know of his unconditional love for you.
 Seize every opportunity to show God’s love through your random acts of kindness: an encouraging word,
a pat on the back, a helpful hand.
 Be present to the people in your life, especially your family. Offer to help. Practice saying “yes.”
 Seek opportunities to participate in your parish or faith community as a greeter, altar server, lector,
 extraordinary minister of Holy Communion or assistant in the religious education department.
 Decide to give a certain percentage of money to your parish each week. As you live with this decision,
you will grow into a lifelong habit of generosity.
Those who wish to read the Bishops’ entire message may access it by going to www.usccb.org and searching “Stewardship and Teenagers.”
Blessings to all!
Sincerely
Francisco Ortega

The Response of the Gospel of Mercy
“The war in Syria has killed as many as 250,000
Syrians, and has uprooted more than 11 million
people. Children, who make up more than half of
Syrian refugees in the Middle East, are paying
the heaviest price: many have witnessed violence and the
loss of homes or loved ones; the vast majority have been
out of school for years.” -Source: Catholic Relief Services
ACTION: Ask Congress to provide funding for povertyfocused international humanitarian assistance & fulfill
our nation’s commitment to help Syrian & other refugees.
Visit ConfrontGlobalPoverty.org.
Pope Francis & Religious Freedom
“We cannot deny that intolerance towards those with different religious convictions is a particularly insidious enemy,
one which today is being witnessed in various areas around
the world. All believers must be particularly vigilant so
that, in living out with conviction our religious and ethical
code, we may express the mystery we intend to honor.”

Bendiciones!

We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
