ATTACKS AGAINST GOD
Bishop cries out as ISIS devastates Syrian towns
A Syrian prelate has described desperate efforts to tend to the
injured and the dying following multiple ISIS attacks on Tartous
and Jableh, which have left more than 200 dead and nearly 650
injured. Bishop Antoine Chbeir told international Catholic
charity Aid to the Church that the May 23 attacks in his diocese
were the first of their kind in an area where displaced Syrians
had gathered by the hundreds of thousands. The coastal region
has remained under Syrian government control and was
considered to be one of the country’s last remaining safe havens
for Muslims and Christians alike. The prelate warned that the
attacks on the two coastal cities may prompt a surge in people
fleeing Syria: “If there are no safe areas in Syria, still more
people will leave the country – probably for good. Many of them
will go by sea.” The Maronite bishop described the desperate
efforts of clergy and laity diocese to come to the aid of victims,
adding that priests have begun burying the dead. Bishop Chbeir
said: “We are trying to help the people and are taking care of the
wounded. It is a very dramatic situation and when the disaster
struck we wondered if we could cope. Right now, our priests and
people are on the scene. They are visiting the people – many of
them have broken legs and deep wounds, not to mention the
psychological effects.”
PRAYER
Martyrs of Uganda, pray
for the faith where it is in danger
and for Christians who must suffer
because of their faith.
Give them the same courage,
zeal, and joy you showed.
And help those of us who live
in places where Christianity is accepted,
to remain aware of the persecution
in other parts of the world. Amen
ON THE BULLETIN COVER
Christ raises widow of Nain’s son to life
As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was
being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a
widow. A large crowd from the city was with her. When the
Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her,
“Do not weep.” He stepped forward and touched the coffin;
at this the bearers halted, and he said, “Young man, I tell you,
arise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave
him to his mother.
- Luke 7:12-15
Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 5, 2016
SAINT MARY PARISH
My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Next Sunday, June 12, will be the annual Uganda Martyrs
celebration. We will welcome the faithful from different parts of
the U.S. as well as Africa. A good number of Ugandan priests
will be coming from Uganda as well as from parishes in the U.S.
where they help out as priests on loan from their Diocese.
Normally we are blessed with the visit of a Bishop from Uganda
who represents all the Bishops in that country. This year
Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo from the Archdiocese of Tororo
will be with us. He will also be joined by Bishop Victor H.
Phalana from the Diocese of Klerksdorp in South Africa. I guess
he heard about the celebration from a Ugandan priest serving in
South Africa and he decided to attend. Give thanks for the
presence of these two men. We invite all parishioners to join for
the celebration of the Mass at 1:30 p.m. next Sunday. The music
will be uplifting. The prayers will be in English, Lugandan and
Latin. The preaching will be in English. The African dance in the
procession will add to the celebration. It will be a great day for
the Church and will surely bring many blessings to those who
attend. I hope you can be there. – Father Michael (Mbale)
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
On Monday, June 6 at 12:10 p.m. we offer Mass with the
anointing of the sick. Anyone in need of physical healing is
encouraged to come forward for the anointing. Anyone who is
physically healthy is encouraged to come and pray for the sick.
THANK YOU
Many thanks to Dunkin Donuts on Lexington Street and
Lavallees Bakery for donating the coffee and pastries after the
Mass offered for the Waltham Veterans last Sunday. It was a
great way to continue the celebration.
CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES
Congratulations to all who are graduating from high school,
college and universities this season. This includes the students of
Brandeis and Bentley who attend Mass at Saint Mary’s. It is
always good to get to know these students – many of whom
come from different countries. I have been able to keep in touch
with some of them after they return home and know they are
doing some great things for their countries. Also congrats to the
high school seniors who graduated. There are a lot of wonderful
young people who have great lives ahead of them. We are
looking forward to seeing them succeed after high school. May
the Lord bless them and keep them in his love. May they
remember Him and all He does for them.
BIRTHRIGHT CARNATIONS - THANK YOU
Birthright is grateful to the members of the parish for the

all your support and prayers. If you’re interested in becoming a

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In the Gospel we see how Jesus was moved with pity and said to
the widow, “Do not cry,” and the people knew that “God had
visited his people.”
When you hear the cries of the poor and reach out to help them,
deep in their hearts the poor know that “God has visited them.”
Jesus, you call us to be your disciples, may we be your true
servants. Jesus, show us how to find time for silence and
reflection, give us eyes to see your grace all around us. Jesus,
give us the spirit of wonder, so that we will know that “all is
grace”. Amen.
HAITI CHURCH REBUILDING
We have always relied on the generosity of parishioners who
keep putting weekly donations in the Box for St. Peter’s Church
which is in the back of the Church. We are looking to have a
fundraiser, possibly a raffle, to see if we can raise more money
that they need at this moment. If someone has an idea for a
fundraiser that we might do as a parish please let us know the
suggestion. Thanks to everyone who has not forgotten the
Haitians who are still rebuilding from the earthquake of 2010.
THANK YOU
Thank you to all who participated in the Procession of the
Corpus Christi. May God Bless You.

Eucharist: Heart of Vocations
"Eucharistic adoration is an essential way
of being with the Lord...There we can speak with him
about everything. We can offer him our petitions, our
concerns, our troubles, our joys, our gratitude, our
disappointments, our needs and our aspirations. There
we can also constantly ask him: “Lord send laborers
into your harvest! Help me to be a good worker in
your vineyard!”

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
prometido.
P. A gustín
