Saint Joseph Church Mission Statement
We, the people of Saint Joseph Church, by the grace of God,
born again in the waters of Baptism, seek to create a
community where our mutual faith in Jesus as Lord and
Savior, encourages us to continue growing as disciples. We
believe that discipleship is a way of life. We strive to show
that we are committed disciples, eager to welcome the
stranger, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and comfort
the bereaved. Inspired by God’s word and nourished by the
Eucharist, we pledge ourselves to active discipleship all for
God’s greater glory and honor.

January 1st is the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God. Let us entrust ourselves to her Immaculate Heart.
Heavenly Father, You blessed the Virgin Mary with the fullness of grace. She is my model of faith, hope and love.
I give this new year to her intercession and ask for her holy prayers. Place my needs into the protection of her motherly love.
With her help I want my faith to grow. Join my heart, dear Lord, to the Holy Mother’s Immaculate Heart, so that I may improve in
loving everyone unconditionally, in imitation of my Savior, Jesus, AMEN.

FAMILY LIFE
Family life is sacred, but it is not without trial. Perhaps
this is the most important message we can glean from today’s
readings. If Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can trip up sometimes—
can disconnect—then we shouldn’t find it surprising when
such things happen to us as well. And parents everywhere
(children, too) can probably relate to—and take some solace
in—the Gospel’s account of Mary and Joseph after Jesus explained why he stayed behind in the temple. They heard his
words, Luke tells us, “But they did not understand what he
said to them” (Luke 2:50). Amen! Nevertheless, Jesus does go
back home with them, and continues to thrive under their
care. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

VIDA FAMILIAR
Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

VALENTINES DAY CARD FUNDRAISER
Please show your support for the Saint Joseph Church Holy
Name Society and their many charitable acts by purchasing a
Valentine’s Day card. Cards will be available for purchase in
the vestibule area after mass, mid January into February. The
cards were beautifully handcrafted by Saint Joseph
Academy students. In Ms. Croce’s art class, K-8 students were
asked to reflect on love; who do they love, who loves them,
and how is that love shown? This year they were given the
choice to draw about love, illustrate a bible verse on love and
friendship, or create an original poem or haiku. Thank you for
all your past support! God Bless!
