Help Expand The National
Museum of Animals & Society
Art & Soul of Santa Barbara
THE NEW NATIONAL MUSEUM OF
ANIMALS AND SOCIETY (NMAS), a
museum for animal lovers of all ages,
needs public support to move to a new
location in LA’s Museum Row district
this Fall.
The musuem is the brainchild of
Santa Barbara resident Carolyn Merino
Mullin, former associate director of
Casa Dolores. Local artist Rafael Perea
de la Cabada is the museum’s Art
Director.
Founded in 2010, this first of its
kind museum is dedicated to enriching
the lives of animals and people by
exploring their shared experience.
The musuem has secured a $50,000
matching donation from The Ellen
Lavinthal Family Trust and is seeking
donations to meet this match, dollar
for dollar. The museum is just $20,000
shy of its $100,000 goal towards its
expansion project. Donations Are Tax
Deductible.

Hospice of Santa Barbara: Ocean of Souls
Mertens Fine Art Gallery
NSPIRED BY HER HEALING JOURNEY, great
love for the ocean, and meeting so many
wonderful people, Diana Valdez created
her Ocean of Souls collection that will
be featured at Hospice of Santa Barbara
(HSB) from February 11th through April
30th. An opening reception will take place
on Wednesday, February 11th from 5:30 to
7pm in the HSB Leigh Block Gallery.
“Life is about challenges and change,
love and compassion, pain and healing—it’s
a journey that is unique to every person,”
shared Valdez. “My paintings reflect these
important life experiences that we often
have difficulty expressing or dealing with.”
After Valdez’s father passed away from
cancer, she turned to Hospice for help with
her grieving process. HSB helped her “find
her new life journey” and “taught her to
enjoy her family and friends to the fullest
once again.”

Hospicio de Santa Bárbara: Mar de las Almas
Peregrine Galleries
