Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time REFLECTION

“ONE PARISH, TWO CHURCHES”
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday February 1st 2015
REFLECTION
In today's first reading, Moses tells God's people that another prophet will take his place.
That promise is fulfilled as Jesus enters the synagogue at Capernaum. St. Mark tells us
made a deep impression upon his audience because he taught them with “authority”.

100 Club: We are running the 100 Club again this year, hopefully in the same format, if we can get a few
more people to continue or sign up to join. We will begin the draws at the end of February with 8 x £10
draws, and then a £10 draw each week. There will be two draws of £100 which will be in the summer and at
Christmas. The cost is £13 per year for each number and you can pay in full, monthly or weekly. The profits
from 20014 was just over £400 and this will be used to buy a new Altar cloth for the main Altar. Any
monies left go towards items needed as and when required. Thank you all for your support in the past and for
your continued support.
FUND RAISING: There will be a meeting on Tuesday evening, 24 Feb at 7.30pm to discuss the musical
evening we are holding at Church in April and how to move forward with lunches. These meetings are open to
anyone who is interested in any way. For further details of either, please see Margaret after Mass or phone on
01405 862986
HELP WANTED: Would anyone like to help the voluntary cleaning team in Carlton? If you can’t help
with the team clean (about once every 2 weeks) perhaps any man, woman or family would like to be responsible for
cleaning one particular area eg. Kitchen, candlesticks, organ loft or Sunday School room. If you are able to help
please contact: Lesley Streets, Pam Oxley or Caroline Goodwin. Thank you

CAFOD AFTERNOON
You are invited to an afternoon
with CAFOD on Saturday 7th February at 3.30-5.30pm
in the Parish Centre. Ben Oldham from CAFOD will
informing us where the funds that the parish has
raised have been spent and he will share the stories
from some of the people whose lives have been
changed with CAFOD’s projects. This is a great
opportunity to learn more about CAFOD’s work first
hand and meet other CAFOD supporters from across
the diocese.
Please try to support this event.
SELBY FOODBANK
Grateful thanks for the 2 monetary donations received
recently. Also to those who have set up a regular
standing order. They are all very much appreciated.
Will be having their Annual Dinner at
Loftsome Bridge on Tuesday 17th February. The
coach will leave outside Church at 6.30pm, arrive at
Loftsome Bridge approx. 7 p.m. and dinner will be at
7.30pm. A menu will be given to all Ladies who wish
to attend and I will need to know your menu choices
by Sunday 8th February. Please either see me at Mass
or give me a ring at home ( 01757 210657) with your
choices. The cost of the meal is £21.95 & deposits of
£10 will be paid for each member from Association
funds, as agreed at last meeting. Therefore all
members need to pay is £11.95 on the night, plus the
cost of any wine/coffees. The cost of the coach is
£185 and the cost to each member will depend on how
many people are on the coach on the night. We look
forward to having a lovely evening. Pat Lawson
