The contents of this Circular Minute must be brought to the notice of all eligible employees of the
establishment of all Institutions. It must be ensured that all employees who meet the requirements of
the post/s are made aware of this circular minute even if they are absent from their normal places of
work.
DIRECTIONS TO CANDIDATE:The following documents must be submitted:(a.)
Application for Employment Form (Form Z.83), which is obtainable at any
Government Department OR from the website- www.kznhealth.co.za.
(b.)
Curriculum Vitae, certified copies of Identity document, marriage certificate, driver’s
license, highest educational qualification and professional registration certificates –
not copies of certified copies.
The Post Reference Number must be indicated in the column provided on the Z.83.Reference
number (POM 26/2014).
Failure to comply with the above instruction will disqualify applicants.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:







Senior Certificate Grade 12 or equivalent PLUS
Diploma/Degree in General Nursing and midwifery plus 1 year post basic qualification
in PHC PLUS
Diploma in Nursing Management (one year post basic)
Current registration with the SANC
A minimum of ten (10) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after
registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
At least 6 years of the period referred to the above must be appropriate/recognizable
experience after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification in PHC
At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be
appropriate/recognizable experience in Nursing Management
・ Valid Driver’s license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:






Demonstrate an in depth knowledge and understanding of nursing legislation and
relate legal and ethical nursing practice and how this impacts on service delivery
Ensure CHC nursing practice of a high standard is implemented and maintained by
the nursing team (unit) in accordance with scope of practice and nursing standards as
determined by the health facility
Promote high quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice
and by the health facility
Demonstrate in depth knowledge and understanding of HR policies and procedures,
PFMA and the legislative framework governing the Public Service.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS









Ensure the effective and efficient utilization of human, financial and material resources
by implementing and monitoring Cost Containment Plan of the CHC
Audit CHC records by identification of risks/gaps, develop action plans, ensure
implementation and monitor progress.
Demonstrate effective communication with the public, supervisors and health
Professionals
Ensure that the Priority Programmes are implemented and monitored, and concise
reports are provided to Management monthly reporting and when required.
Ensure Quality Improvement and Infection Prevention and Control Projects are
developed, implemented and monitored to improve standards.
Co-ordinate Operation Sukuma Sakhe activities in your catchment area
Develop and implement PHC package (incl community based services) considering
the disease profile, provincial and district priorities in your catchment in collaboration
with all role players
Provide comprehensive verifiable information on progress
Develop effective relationships with all service providers in delivering an integrated
service delivery plan, evaluate and monitor progress in the implementation of the CHC operational plans.
