His prayer intention for January was that religious men and women may rediscover the joy of following Christ and strive to serve the poor with zeal. It is appropriate that we begin our reflections on Consecrated Life near the feast of the Presentation when Jesus was taken to the temple and dedicated to God as done in His tradition. During this year we will reflect on the call and the place of consecrated life in the church. What does it mean to be consecrated? People are consecrated, objects are consecrated and buildings are consecrated – which means that they are set apart exclusively for God. It is as simple and as complicated as that. Each religious community holds a special charism that is practiced for the building up of the church. Of which there are many. During this year, each month we will offer a reflection on consecrated life, the vows and the charisms lived. We will also take this opportunity to profile the Sisters of Mercy who are living here in Mother of Divine Providence Parish. As the entire church is united this year in its focus on religious life, let us pray for vocations. from the desk of Sister Veronica RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DO YOUR KIDS NEED THEIR SACRAMENTS? The principal of your school uses a microphone to get everyone’s attention, and the President uses a whole parade of cars and flags and secret agents to show how important he is. Today in the Bible readings we hear that when Jesus walked into a room, everyone else could see that He was in charge! When He did a miracle like healing someone in today’s Bible story, everyone could tell that this was an important person. They listened carefully to what he said, because his miracles showed that He came MTC will be hosting "Treasure Island", our live and silent auction event, on Saturday, February 21st.
