New Year,
New Temple
in 2015
This year, the Calgary Buddhist
Temple will have a brand new look.
Last year we started major renovations on the
Temple. We encountered a number of unexpected
structural problems which delayed the project, but
the work is continuing and we expect to be back in
the Temple in early April. We are looking forward
to our modernized and beautiful new building.
The fundraising campaign continues – thank you
so much to those who have donated generously.
We have a number of activities planned for this
year, including an open house in June and a silent
auction/dinner in the fall. Your continued support
is really appreciated.
Congratulation to Bob Gubenco who completed
his Tokudo Minister’s training at Hongwanji-Ha in
Kyoto, Japan this past November. Along with Ken
Madden, he will be an Assistant Minister (Sensei)
at our temple.

To our Members,
On behalf of the board and myself, Thank You, for your ongoing
support and donations that sustain and help our temple grow.
There have been many changes and challenges for our small Sangha
to date, but upon reflection I realize it is not any single individual
that determines our future but the contribution of many. Whatever
resource is contributed, be it time and effort or financial, makes it
possible for us to ensure Jodo Shinshu Buddhism and the Calgary
Buddhist Temple continues to be a lamp for peace in Calgary’s
religious multicultural landscape.
In gratitude may we continue to offer a resource for personal growth,
community and comfort in time of need. The doors to the temple are
open to all and the heart of Compassion and Wisdom, Amida Buddha,
is within.
