Dear Student,
You are invited to apply for a $7,500 Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation Graduate Award granted to
academically gifted, well-rounded Canadians, entering a post-graduate program (Masters or Doctorate
level). This program is aimed at those students whose financial capabilities make it difficult for them to
pursue their studies.
In order to qualify you must have received all Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan Education Assistance
Payments (all three for Plan I, Plan II and Founders’ Plan or four for Group Savings Plan or Group Savings
Plan 2001) and are less than 27 years of age as of January 1, 2015. The Awards Selection Committee will
award up to $7,500 to successful applicants through competition. Previous award recipients are not eligible
to apply again.
Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation Graduate Awards were established by the Board of Directors of
the Foundation in honour of five outstanding individuals who have made substantial contributions to the
Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan:

In order to be considered for one of the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation Graduate Awards candidates must
complete the application on the reverse as well as submit information in the following categories:
1.
TRANSCRIPT: Candidates are required to supply, through their institution, official, complete transcript(s) to the present
date of all post- secondary studies, together with a transcript key. A letter or certificate indicating unconditional
acceptance to a graduate program should be provided where available. If the final letter of acceptance to the
chosen graduate program is not yet available, indicate when acceptance confirmation will be available. If the
graduate program has commenced, a report on your progress to date should be supplied, if possible. Translations
into either of Canada’s official languages will be required where necessary.
2. LIST OF POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION: Each applicant is required to list chronologically his or her postsecondary education from the date of graduation from secondary school. Gaps in an applicant’s postsecondary education (PSE) are to be explained.
3.
FINANCIAL DETAILS (demonstrating the need for assistance): Please provide information on income from parental
contributions, loans, bursaries, scholarships, summer or part-time employment as well as tuition and living costs.
In order to obtain a full picture of your financial situation, please complete the table provided under “Financial
Details” on the application form showing your income and expenditures, and your annual costs and your total
program costs. The full value of all scholarships must be disclosed. Please indicate if success in this competition
will have an impact on your decision to attend post-graduate studies.
4.
PERSONAL OUTLINE: Applications must be submitted with a composition of 200 words or less (English or French)
in typed format only, and not repeat information given elsewhere in the application. It is suggested that this
personal outline follow a year by year format, demonstrating your progression. It is in the interest of the applicant
to adhere to the 200-word limitation in their essay, and to be concise in all other parts of the application. Overall
facility in written expression will be judged.
5.
ACADEMIC CONTRIBUTIONS: The applicant must outline his/her contributions to the academic community
including participation in student organizations, drama, sports, music, debating, etc. DO NOT SUBMIT RESEARCH
PAPERS. Please indicate other skills, accomplishments, and interests.
6. SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Provide an outline of contributions to the social community (during your postsecondary school years only). This may include, for example, personal enrichment activities as well as
volunteer social service or organizational work.
7.
DIVERSITY OF INTERESTS: The applicant must explain in writing how their education and extracurricular
activities demonstrate they are a well–rounded individual.
8. CAREER OBJECTIVES: Outline the anticipated applications of your current path of study.
9.
THREE LETTERS OF R E F E R E N C E : All reference letters and transcripts should be sealed in their original envelope
within each package. Do not send anything separate from your application.
10. REMINDERS: Applications must be typed and must arrive as o n e c o m p l e t e package via mail. The complete
package should be postmarked on or before January 31, 2015. Incomplete applications, late applications,
photocopies, e m a i l s a n d faxes will NOT be considered regardless of the reason for the delay.
