Dear Parishioners,
FOOD BANK: A collection point has been set up at the back of Church with a list of
This weekend is designated Education Sunday when we are invited to pray for the work
of Catholic Education in this country. Did you know that the Church educates 798,687
pupils across 2,250 schools? It also has 4 universities and 13 university colleges and
higher institutes. This is some amazing commitment which demands our prayers. In our
own parish we rejoice in the gift of our St. John Vianney Primary School, our parish preschool and Bishop Ullathorne Secondary School. We give thanks for the great work they
undertake on behalf of our community and families. This is a good moment to
remember that our schools are there to assist families in educating children and passing
on the faith. This is work they cannot do unaided, but also require the support of
parents, families and our community to complete this work.
This weekend there is a special second collection for the work of the Catholic
Education Service which supports every diocese in this country in providing and
securing Catholic education. Thank you for your generosity.
Please keep in your prayers the children and families preparing for First Reconciliation
and First Holy Communion. During their time of preparation lots of wonderful work will
be taking place in school and the children will also be working with their families to
complete a very special book that will help everybody get ready for these celebrations.
Each weekend at Mass the children will be bringing their books to the altar as a
reminder of this special time and of our need to pray for them.
With my prayers and best wishes,
Fr. Jonathan

14th February, there will be a cheese and wine social in the Parish Hall and then on

hope many of you will take this opportunity to join us at Mass this weekend and also

parish.
