CALL FOR ENTRIES The Earth Speaks is a juried exhibit in the ArtSpace Gallery, (Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania) arising from a deepening concern for the climate crisis currently affecting our planet. Art has always been a powerful vehicle for raising consciousness, and this exhibit hopes to bring to light our growing awareness of a crisis we can no longer ignore. The Earth Speaks is a National open call for work that focuses the attention of the viewing public on the gravity of the issue. $1100 in awards are available in a variety of mediums including 2-D, 3D, Photography and Printmaking. Students are welcomed and encouraged to enter. JUROR—Patricia Watts founded ecoartspace in 1997 after researching art and nature practitioners since 1994. In 1999 she partnered with Amy Lipton in New York City and together they have produced numerous exhibitions and programs on both the east and west coasts. Watts has participated as panelist at numerous conferences and has given lectures at art departments internationally on art and ecology. Exhibitions she has curated include Transmissions at the Marin Community Foundation (2013) in Novato, CA; Shifting Baselines at the Santa Fe Art Institute (2013); MAKE:CRAFT at Otis College of Art and Design (2010) in Los Angeles; and Ecoarchive at 5M in San Francisco (2010). She also curated Hybrid Fields at the Sonoma County Museum (2006) in Santa Rosa, and Bug-Eyed: Art, Culture, Insects for the Turtle Bay Exploration Park (2004-2005) in Redding, CA, and produced a site-specific temporary public art installation entitled Windsock Currents (2005) on Crissy Field in the Presidio (San Francisco) for UN World Environment Day. Most recently Watts has been writing a series of AcPatricia Watts tion Guides including replicable social practice public art projects including Eve Mosher's HighWaterLine and Tattfoo Tan's S.O.S projects. ecoartspace has also been developing a video archive of interviews with pioneering eco-artists including Bonnie Sherk, Buster Simpson, Patricia Johanson, and Jackie Brookner, and many others to make available for exhibitions and research purposes. Required image size is 1920 pixels on the longest side (if it is a horizontal image, 1920 pixels wide; if a vertical, 1920 pixels tall). Save your files with a resolution of 72 dpi.  File should be named with the artists initials and numbered (ex. JCK1.jpeg)  Entries must include the attached entry form. It is the ARTIST’S responsibility to select the category. Students should check both student and category type.  Mailed submissions will not be returned  Incomplete entries or ones not meeting exhibition standards are disqualified; fees are non-refundable  A photocopy of a valid Student I.D. must accompany all student submissions. ENTRY FEES: There is no limit to the number of entries. Seventh St., Stroudsburg PA 18360. NOTIFICATION: Entrants will be notified via email on or around February 13 only if he/she is accepted. A list of accepted artists will also be posted on the PoconoArts website. Shipping of accepted entries to and from the show is the responsibility of the artist. Further exhibition details will be provided upon acceptance. SALES: All work must be available for sale. The ArtSpace Gallery receives a commission of 20% of sale before taxes. All payments to artists will be in the form of a check mailed 30 days after the close of the show. PRINT QUALITY: The ArtSpace Gallery reserves the right to disqualify any work that does not meet exhibition standards and/or work which is noticeably different than the original jpeg submitted. LIABILITY: While every effort to properly care for work is made, the ArtSpace Gallery and the Pocono Arts Council are not responsible for the loss or damage of work while in transit or during the exhibition. Artists should provide their own insurance coverage.
