Gatchell, Deacon (262) 367-9402 www.peacesussex.org Divine Service: Sunday – 7:45 and 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday – 6:45 p.m. Bible Class and Sunday School: Sunday – 9:15 a.m. The Fourth Sunday after Epiphany Sunday, February 1, 2015 TODAY’S THEME: JESUS GIVES US THE VICTORY OVER SATAN “Depart, you unclean spirit, and make room for the Holy Spirit!” This exorcism in the baptismal liturgy reflects the promise of Baptism that Christ delivers us from the devil. In the casting out of the demons, Jesus demonstrates that He is the Son of God and the Redeemer who has vanquished Satan. Jesus’ authority over the demons reveals Him as the true Savior from sin, death, and the devil’s power. Those who witnessed this miracle unwittingly put their finger on where the power over Satan is found: Jesus’ doctrine—His teaching! “What new doctrine is this?” “A new doctrine with authority,” that is to say, a new teaching that has the power to save and deliver from the power of Satan. This is what the Gospel is: the power of God to salvation. The Gospel is more than information; it is the live-giving power of God that is anchored in Jesus’ death and resurrection. Guests—Welcome to Our Divine Service! If we can assist you in any way with questions about our confession of faith, spiritual struggles, understanding our liturgical service, or any other need, please let us know. It is our prayer that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will strengthen and comfort you. Please sign our guest register in the narthex Pastoral Care and Guests at the Lord’s Supper We are concerned about the spiritual welfare of all who commune at the Lord’s Table. If you are a guest and desire to commune, please speak to the pastor before the service. WE GATHER TO HEAR GOD’S WORD—“From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15).
