The Cure for Betrayal - North Tenneha Church of Christ

Let Unity Ring in 2015 Encouragement And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. (I Samuel 30:6) The Hebrew term means “To become strong”. The idea is to become strong out of weakness; To take hold of strength when you are in a weakened state. Such was the case with David in the text mentioned above. There are many, and I mean many, things that discourage or weaken us every day. That is why we must spend time encouraging one another. Let us always remember to say a kind word, a positive phrase, and an uplifting thought to one another. It is so easy to tear down and destroy. The real strength is in building one another up, especially during our most difficult times. Lastly, encouragement can be found in the Lord when there is no earthly person around to give it. There are times when everyone around you is discouraged at the same time. We cannot always sit and wait for someone else to encourage us. The bible says “David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” When things are not going well, and we are down, and our frustration is high, we encourage ourselves in the Lord. The Lord is my strength. He is my encouragement. And you never know, if you encourage yourself, you may find enough strength to encourage someone else. In His love, Kennon D.
