SERMON
God entrusted Paul with the responsibility of bringing the gospel to diverse people. Hence the focus of
Paul's ministry is not his own rights or privileges as an apostle but the privilege of serving God by freely
sharing the good news of Christ with others.

If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground
for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and
woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel! 17For if
I do this of my own will, I have a reward; but if not

Lenten theme is “Bible People: Monologues for Lent.” Everyone is welcome to come to the
Lenten Supper served each Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the CLC Fellowship Hall followed by Lenten
Worship at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. (Thanks to the Congregational Life Committee for preparing
and serving the first Lenten Supper. On the menu—homemade chicken wild rice and minestrone
soups!)
FIRST COMMUNION ORIENTATION for parents is Wednesday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m.
First Communion classes for fifth graders begin Wednesday, February 25, at 5:30 p.m.

Make valentines to send to our brothers and sisters in Malawi. Include prayers, personal messages

scarves, 8 hat/mitten/scarf sets, 2 neck warmers, 1 pair of slippers, 18 pillow cases, 2 headbands
(for ears), 1 v-neck sweater, 1 table scarf, 25 tissue-box covers with tissues, 70 tissue-box covers

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY on the book of Galatians will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February
18. The group will meet each Wednesday for four or five weeks in the education wing.
RADIO BROADCAST PRICE INCREASE: The cost to sponsor a radio broadcast is now $90
per Sunday. (Gifts of any amount are always appreciated for the Radio Broadcast Fund.)
SUNSHINE GROUP will not be meeting at American Lutheran Home in January, February, and
March as in previous years. “Sunshine” will resume on April 22 when residents of Autumn Village and American Lutheran Home come over to the CLC Fellowship Hall for noon lunch and
entertainment. Volunteers and a dish to pass are always needed and appreciated for noon Sunshine
Lunch at church the fourth Wednesday of the month from April through October. There is still a
need for a Sunshine Coordinator.
CHRIST LUTHERAN WILL BE HOSTING and supporting a blood drive for the Red Cross on
Tuesday, February 17. Volunteers are needed! In addition, donations of food items are needed
for the canteen. Cheese curds, pretzels, cookies (no peanuts or peanut butter), crackers, and orange
juice are much appreciated! Please have these items at the church by Monday, February 16. To

LUTHER PARK MINISTRY TOUR: For 83 years Luther Park has provided a fun, safe,
Christ-centered place where children of all ages can come and experience Christ's love through
a wide variety of activities, creative worship, caring community, and Sabbath rest in this wonderful place set apart. Come to Our Savior's Lutheran, Menomonie, on February 23 at 6
p.m. and hear updates as to what is new, how the Camp is doing now, how Luther Park makes
an impact, and even some dreams for the future. The meeting begins promptly at 6 p.m. and
will last no more than one hour. Come a little early for some coffee and goodies! The Luther
Park Ministry Tour is a meeting for donors, pastors, past staff, and other interested parties
who have expressed an interest in the health and longevity of this amazing ministry called Luther Park.

COSMO NEWS — February 1-8
WE NEED SNACKS! Please bring a non-perishable snack item to share for COSMO snack time.
Congratulations, COSMO! We collected a recordbreaking total for money and cans of soup for Souper
Bowl of Caring Sunday. As of Monday, we had $360 and 68 cans of soup! What an amazing way to
help out the families of our community.
Fifth Grade Families: We will begin our First Communion Class with a brief parent orientation on Ash
Wednesday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m.. Classes will be held at 5:30 p.m. each of the five weeks of Lent
(February 25; March 4, 11, 18, and 25.) Lenten Supper will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the Lenten
service at 7 p.m. If you have not contacted the church office regarding First Communion, please do so
with your response for participation.
PARENTS: You are cordially invited to attend our Parent Appreciation Brunch on February 15 during
