Second Sunday in Ordinary Time - B, 2015
WEEKLY HOMILY / HOMILÍA SEMANAL
Second Sunday OT/Segundo Domingo TO, Ciclo B
In the first Reading of today’s mass, Yahweh calls Samuel. Samuel has a very interesting
history. He is the son of a sterile woman who, imploring to God fervently, received the grace of
a child. That is why his mother offered him to the Lord and brought him to the temple to serve
Yahweh at the orders of Eli. In the temple, Samuel received the call to be a prophet to his
people Israel. In the same way, in today’s Gospel, these two disciples who are looking for the
Messiah and find Jesus Christ, and ask him to show them where he lives, so, Jesus showed
them that place where he lives, “the Will of the Heavenly Father.” This is where the Lord is
inviting us today, to experience that only in the Will of his Father, the Will of God, we can find
the meaning of our life, and the answers to so many questions, Why are we here? Why do I
exist? What is the purpose and meaning of my life? All these questions that sooner or later,
every human being has to ask itself and that most of the time we could not find an answer or
we find them meaningless. So today, the Lord wants to make a proposition to all of us, as he
did to Peter, to whom he changed his name, from now on you will not be Simon son of John,
but you will be called Cephas, the head of the church found by Christ. So Jesus tells us today,
you will not be call any longer as you have been until today, I change your name, I give you a
new identity, I give you a new mission. Even if we are reticent of all of these changes, if we
listen to his voice harden not your hearts, as psalm 95 said. God bless you all.
salmo 95. Que Dios los bendiga siempre.

Who is the Adult Church Choir?
Well, in days gone by, it was this wonderful, dedicated group of parishioners, numbers
of at least 25, who gathered in Church Ministry with a passion to sing, rehearse, and add to the
liturgy with their harmonies and love of prayerful music. Today, while there are still some with
this passion, their numbers are few. And so, the tables turn as they should, and now “YOU” are
the “CHOIR”. Remembering “Hymns” are “Songs of Prayer”, we encourage you, the
congregation, to be the sound of “Prayer through Music” as well as “Spoken Prayer”. Every
voice is “well in tune” to the ears of the Lord.
So, let us “Sing a Joyful Song To the Lord”, when we attend Mass!
