Psalm 80
My Dear People,
With the new liturgical year we will focus
primarily on the Gospel of Mark in our Sunday Liturgy. This Gospel is believed to be the earliest and
briefest description of the life of Christ and its title,
THE BEGINNING OF THE GOOD NEWS OF
JESUS CHRIST”. The whole text is only the beginning of the story which continues to unfold into our
own time. Because it is so brief, only 16 chapters, it
can be read straight through, but like a fine liqueur or
chocolate, it deserves to be savored in small amounts.
I want to encourage you to consider reading a short
passage, perhaps with your morning or evening meal
for some very lively table discussion with the family.
This practice will also help you to become aware of
how this same GOOD NEWS is unfolding in our own
lives.
Unlike any other reading, when the Scriptures are
read, God also speaks. May we allow the Word of
God to have ample space in our day that we may live
lives that are both inspired and empowered by that
Word.
Fr. John
Padre John
