Nuestra parroquia y el Ministerio de Abraham y Sarah han
invitado a:
Horizontes de Cristiandad, que es un programa diocesano orientado a personas de 60
años en adelante. El programa consiste en una serie de charlas mediante las cuales el
participante logra un mayor conocimiento de sí mismo, un mejoramiento en sus relaciones
humanas y espirituales y un acercamiento más a Dios.
El próximo Horizontes se celebrará en nuestra parroquia el sábado 23 de Julio comenzando
las 8:00 A.M. en el Family Center y terminaremos con la misa después de las 5:00 P.M. Es completamente gratis,
pero se aceptan donaciones, tendremos Desayuno, Almuerzo y Merienda.

School supplies needed for the “Backpack
On Saturday, August 6th
Project”
The Humanities Ministry is currently collecting school supply donations to help
children at St. Ann’s Mission, St. Monica, St. Michael Archangel, St. Juan Boco,
etc. Due to the current economic trends they find themselves unable to provide
for the needs of the children. If you would like to help, here are some suggestions:
Pencil sharpeners, Erasers, Folders, Three ring binder, Pocket dividers, Rulers,
Highlighters, Color Pencils, Scissors (safety blunt), Lined paper to refill notebooks,
erasable pens, Pencil Pouch, Composition Journals, Glue Sticks, Glue.
Boxes will be placed outside the Church in the vestibule area for the collection
of all supplies. We will be accepting donations until August 3, 2016.

Only One Hour
Because St. Francis of Assisi spent many hours prostrated in Adoration of Jesus in
the Blessed Sacrament, he was given the grace to work tirelessly for justice and Peace. He
wrote “I beg you to show the greatest possible reverence and honor for the most Holy Body
and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ through whom all things whether in heaven of on earth
have been brought to peace and reconciliation with Almighty God.”

Lecturas Del Dia
PRIMERA LECTURA (Deuteronomio 30: 10-14)
Con la boca hablamos mucho de la necesidad de una ley que recoja situaciones negativas y
las corrija. Sabemos que la ley debe aportar soluciones, pero una cosa es hablar y otra sentir la función de ayuda
que la ley tiene. Moisés significa ese intento de contagiar y ver la importancia de la ley para convivir. Pero hay que
vivirla, aunque Dios no sea el legislador. El nos ha hecho capaces de descubrirla y escribirla.
SEGUNDA LECTURA
(Colosenses 1: 15-20)
Según Pablo, Dios nos ha dado la posibilidad de pensar en todo desde Jesús. El es la referencia fundamental
para llevar una buena vida, para elegir entre distintas posibilidades, para distinguir una buena ley de otra mala, de
una justicia humana de otra deshumanizante, de una cultura que construye personas de otra que destruye personas.
Jesús es el criterio de todo. Y lo es como persona viva, no como letra muerta.
EVANGELIO (Lucas 10: 25-37)
¿El mandamiento más importante de todas la leyes? Defender y apoyar a quien lo necesita. Haciendo eso
defendemos y apoyamos a Dios. Porque Dios, como los padres, se siente orgulloso cuando ve que sus hijos se
ayudan, apoyan, defienden y quieren. Su mayor alegría es que nosotros estemos bien. Por encima de cualquier
diferencia. Todos.

Midnight Musings / Pensamientos de Media Noche
Jesus Christ, the Same, Yesterday, Today
and Forever.
I am looking forward to the baptisms of my grand
niece and twin nephews at the end of the month. I will be
gone to Illinois from July 27 to August 2. We will celebrate
for them the sacraments that have marked the Church
from its beginning. I see myself and my family as a part of
the flow of grace from the time of Christ until now.
I remember my ordination as a priest in 1973. I
celebrated the wedding of my brothers Mark and George
a few years later. Then their children came into the world;
we had their moments for Baptism, First Communion
and Confirmation. Now we are getting ready to celebrate
the Baptism of the next generation: Amelia, the daughter of my nephew Matthew, and Kaleb and Thomas, twin
sons of my nephew John Paul, all three grandchildren of
Mark and Arlene. We are also planning the marriage of my
niece Ashley for next year. Over time we rejoiced in new
births and grieved over the loss of loved ones, parents and
grandparents.
Time passes. New characters appear on the stage
of life, as others move beyond this world. People play
different roles as they move through different stages in
life. But we always come back to the same reality: who
we are in Christ Jesus. As Saint Paul explains in today’s
second reading: “Christ Jesus is the image of the invisible
God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created
all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or
powers; all things were created through him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together”
(Colossians 1:15-17). That means, he holds all things together for us, life and death, joy and sorrow, coming and
going, winning and losing. We change, life changes, circumstances change, but he remains forever and becomes
the sure foundation upon which we can live with security,
confidence and hope. From birth to death and beyond,
from Baptisms of new babies to the funerals of beloved
parents and grandparents, Christ holds it together for us.
As he holds it together for us, Christ holds us
together with each other, reminding us in today’s gospel about the utter simplicity of love– love God and love
neighbor. In this journey of life through time and into eternity, his love for us finds expression in our love for each
other. Scriptures this weekend recall the essential truths:
without him we cannot exist and only with each other can
we become what we are called to be, people loved by God
and loving each other. Without those truths, nothing else
makes sense.

Jesucristo, el Mismo, Hoy y Para Siempre
Estoy ancioso de que llegue el momento del bautizo de mi sobrina nieta y de los mellizos programados para
el fin de este mes. Estaré en Illinois desde el 27 de julio hasta el 2 de agosto. Celebraremos para ellos el Sacramento
que ha marcado a la Iglesia desde el comienzo. Veo a mi
familia y a mí como parte de la corriente de gracia desde los
tiempos de Cristo hasta hoy.
Recuerdo mi Ordenación como sacerdote en 1973.
Celebré las boda de mis hermanos Mark y George, unos
años después. Luego vinieron los hijos al mundo; celebramos sus Bautizos, Comuniones y Confirmaciones. Ahora
estamos listos para celebrar los bautizos de la próxima
generación: Amelia, hija de mi sobrino Matthew y Kaleb y
Thomas, los mellizos de mi sobrino John Paul, los tres son
nietos de Mark y Arlene. Además estamos planificando el
matrimonio de mi sobrina Ashley para el próximo año. Con
el tiempo nos regocijamos en nuevos nacimientos y sufrimos por la pérdida de seres queridos, padres y abuelos.
El tiempo pasa. Nuevos personajes aparecen en el
escenario de la vida, otros pasan más allá del mundo. Las
personas representan diferentes papeles al tiempo que se
mueven en diferentes escenarios en la vida. Pero siempre
volvemos a la misma realidad: quién somos en Jesucristo.
San Pablo lo explica en la segunda lectura de hoy: “Él es
imagen del Dios invisible, primogénito de toda la creación,
porque por él fue creado todo, en el cielo y en la tierra:
lo visible y lo invisible, majestades, señoríos, autoridades y
potestades, todo fue creado por él y para él, él es anterior
a todo y todo se mantiene en él” (Colonisenses 1: 15-17).
Significa que él mantiene todo unido para nosotros, la vida
y la muerte, la alegría y la tristeza, las idas y venidas, las ganancias y pérdidas. Nosotros cambiamos, la vida cambia,
las circunstancias cambian, pero él se mantiene para siempre y se convierte en la base sólida donde podemos vivir
con seguridad, confianza y esperanza. Desde el nacimiento
a la muerte y más allá, desde el Bautismo de recién nacidos
hasta los funerales de padres y abuelos, Cristo lo mantiene
todo unido para nosotros.
Al tiempo que él lo mantiene todo unido para nosotros, Cristo también nos une los unos con los otros, recodándonos en el evangelio de hoy la absoluta simplicidad
del amor - el amor de Dios y el amor a nuestros semajantes.
En esta jornada de vida a través del tiempo hasta la eternidad, su amor por nosotros encuentra expresión en nuestro
amor por nuestros semajantes. Las Escrituras de éste fin
de semana relatan una verdad esencial: sin él no podemos
existir y sólo juntos podemos ser lo que estamos llamados
a ser, seres amados por Dios y amando a nuestros semejantes. Sin estas verdades, nada tiene sentido.
