The Painting Project Begins
The project to paint the inside courtyard of the church and school will begin on July
11, 2015. We have a contract with RIX Painting Company. After reviewing recent proposals, the RIX Painting Company seemed the best. It does most of the painting for the
Diocese and comes highly recommended.
The projected costs will be $50,000.00. We plan to raise this money by your donations toward the
Diocesan Development Fund (DDF), or Maintenance Fund. So, I would encourage everyone to make a
pledge to the DDF. If you have already made a pledge, please pay it off.
I know working together as a parish family, we can get this badly needed job done.
There will be some inconveniences. We will need to close the inside courtyard parking. There will
be no school, so the painters will have free use of this area with no danger to our children. The Adoration Chapel will only have access from Lime Street.
As the painting of the church is all of our responsibility, it would be important that we observe very
carefully the work being done and if you find work that is not good, please inform the office.
Together, we can do a great job to make our church beautiful!
Peace,
Diocese of San Bernardino
Office of the Bishop
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling because it represents further departure from the way
our country’s legal system defines the institution of marriage. This new definition does not reflect Catholic
thought and belief about marriage.
At the same time, we recognize the dignity of those who are homosexual. As they are loved by God and
created in his image, we count them as our brothers and sisters.
We may feel disappointed by this ruling, but we must remember that it has no jurisdiction over how we, as
Roman Catholics, celebrate and practice the Sacrament of Matrimony. Let us take this moment to look
again at what our faith teaches us about marriage, an expression of love and commitment between man and
woman, a sign of Christ’s love for us and a source of new life in God’s plan for humanity. The best way
for us to voice our opinion about the definition of marriage today is to understand and live the Sacrament as
a sign of our faith and a gift from God.
In Christ,

RESEMBLANCE
The dignity of resembling the Almighty is common to all people. We should then love them all as ourselves, as living images of the Deity. It is in this that we belong to God.

Using Your Envelope Really Helps!
It’s much easier for our volunteer counters to count your church contributions if you use the envelopes
mailed to you. They have to complete information - name, address, amount of contribution to fill in - to help
us keep accurate records for your end-of-year statement. Also, you cannot write one check for multiple envelopes or Mass intentions. We appreciate your help.

SENT BY GOD
In Amos’ time the vocation of prophet had achieved a very formal status in Israel. The prophets had arisen,
originally, to act as God’s voice when Israel was no longer led by the spiritual/civil figures known as “judges,”
but by monarchs. Over time, the monarchy had appropriated the offices of priest and prophet, established them
into companies and reserved the right to appoint courtly prophets. Then, as now, when those in power also got to
choose who would act as their official conscience, things sometimes went awry. At such times, God raised up
prophets from unlikely places, and this is how Amos received his vocation as prophet. In last week’s Gospel we
heard how Jesus was raised up as God’s anointed from a place many viewed as unlikely. As we continue to discern our own vocation as baptized disciples, we can be assured that we are, in Paul’s words, “chosen, destined in
accord with the purpose of the One who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his
will” (Ephesians 1:11).

muchos consideraban poco probable.
