EXTRAORDINARY RANDOM THOUGHTS
IN ORDINARY TIME
PAGE 3
PENSAMIENTOS FORTUITOS EXTRAORDINARIOS EN EL TIEMPO ORDINARIO
After the celebration of Corpus Christi last
weekend, we are back to our Green Sundays!
It dawned on me that the celebration of Corpus Christi is so apropos in setting us off to
continue the journey in ordinary time, for indeed, it is the Eucharist that sustains us in our journey.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our parishioners
that showed their love for Fr. Mario Quejadas and Fr.
Bob Duda last weekend. Both priests did their farewell
gatherings in their respective parishes as they both
move on to their new assignments in DuPage County. I
managed to visit Fr. Mario’s party for half an hour between two baptisms, after which I crashed into jetlag
mode, while reading the messages of parishioners written in the blue hearts that I got this weekend. Thank
you very much for your support to our priests!
We have only two weekends to the transition to the
three parishes, and new mass schedules. Are we
ready? I am still going through a number of meetings,
including one with the leadership of the three parishes,
the staff, the finance personnel, a number of priests,
and then the bishop. These meetings are meant to establish the plans during the transition, and if there is
any concern or question you might have, please do not
be afraid to approach me. One of the worst things that
can happen in the process of becoming pastor of three
parishes is that people might presume that I am too
busy and unavailable, therefore they will try to spare
me from their concerns or will not approach me for anything at all. I hope that my role as pastor of the parishes will not become a reason for me to be alienated
from my parishioners, because that is not why I am taking on this responsibility.
I want to offer a shout out to the Junior High Youth of
our parishes who have been going around the churches
and the community to do some amazing service! Ken
and Michelle Barrie continue to take the leadership in
shaping the minds and hearts of our children to become people of service and love. Thanks to them, and
to our hardworking young people, for their dedication!
As we go on with the summer months and the weeks of
ordinary time, I pray that our church will continue to be
inspired to do good work for the Kingdom of God. Saint
Teresa, you inspire me to be good!
With every beautiful and happy thought,
Fr. Sunny Castillo
servicio y amor. ¡Gracias a éllos, y a nuestros jóvenes
Padre Sunny Castillo

11th Sunday of Ordinary Time
June 13/14, 2015
In today’s Scripture passage from Ezekial, God
cultivates the trees to provide protection and a
dwelling place for the birds. This reading is linked
to the story of the mustard seed in St. Mark’s Gospel. Jesus narrates this parable, about how the
smallest of seeds produces a plant large enough for
birds to nest in. Faith in Christ may begin small,
but grows abundantly when nurtured through the
Eucharist and other sacraments, prayer, and the
Word of God. As faith-filled stewards, we know
that as our discipleship in Christ grows, so does
our relationship with Him and our stewardship opportunities in building the Kingdom of God.

“Top Reasons to Become a Catechist”
[or catechist helper]
1. Help Nourish the Faith of Children…
“The most important reason to get involved is
so that we can help nourish the faith in children. If we
don’t get involved, who will teach them and prepare
them to be active members in the parish as they grow?”
We need you! The Church needs you! Our children need
you! Please call Marcia Brown-Medina, Coordinator of
our Religious Education Program, if you would like to
learn more about becoming a catechist or helper at
815-216-7267 or [email protected] .
Let’s spread the Faith and let all know about Jesus!

LOVE, LOVE, AND MORE LOVE
Dear Fr. Sunny,
A couple of weeks ago, you wrote a bulletin article
called, “Because You Loved Me.” Little did you know that
we were planning a surprise for you that would play right
into your feelings that you wrote about that week.
In preparation of you taking over as pastor of St.
Rose and St. Martin’s, in addition to being pastor of St.
Teresa, and also in honor of you celebrating 11 years as a
priest, we wanted to give you something that would forever
be a visual reminder to you to show you how much you are
truly loved by us.
These words of love, support, prayers, and encouragement are just a small window into what we feel in our
hearts.
So, in the spirit of our patroness, St. Teresa, we
present to you a small gift given with GREAT LOVE!!
God Bless You Always!!
With love from your little
