June 7,2015
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In solidarity with all of the dioceses throughout our
great nation, we will be observing the Fortnight for
Freedom from June 21 - July 4, 2015. The theme
chosen by the United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops for this fourth annual Fortnight is Freedom to
Bear Witness. As Catholics, that freedom celebrates
the liberty afforded both by our Catholic faith in the
sanctity of human life, the freedom of conscience, as
well as our beliefs with respect to healthcare, immigration, marriage and many other humanitarian concerns.
As we approach the anniversary of our nation’s
independence, we express our thanksgiving to God for
the blessings of our religious liberty, which guarantees
that we may freely exercise our religious convictions.
We do so joining other people of faith in our nation,
who provide many contributions which are essential to
the common good of our society.
In witnessing to this priceless gift of faith, I invite
you to join me for the celebration of Mass in honor of
the Fortnight for Freedom on Thursday, June 25, 2015,
at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raleigh, beginning at
6:00 p.m., followed by a picnic on the parish grounds
hosted by the Knights of Columbus. I also encourage
you to visit our Diocesan website for more information,
which
may
be
accessed
at:
www.dioceseofraleigh.org/fortnight-for-freedom.
As we now renew our gratitude to God for the
protections which religious freedom affords us and
society, may Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception,
Patroness of the Diocese of Raleigh and of the United
States of America, guide and direct our efforts on behalf of our great nation, now and always.
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge
Bishop of Raleigh
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

DON’T THROW AWAY YOUR GREETING CARDS! St. Jude's
Ranch recycles used greeting cards and creates new recycled
cards. The recycled cards are then sold to help support
St. Jude's programs for abused, abandoned and neglected
children. They take all greeting cards except American Greeting,
Disney and Hallmark. The cards should be 5x7 or smaller.
St. Jude's Ranch for Children was founded by Father Jack
Adams in 1967. St. Jude's has provided healing and nurturing
for 45 years for thousands of people. So let’s lend a helping
hand by bringing in your used greeting cards. A box will be
located in the Gathering Area for your donations. This will be
an ongoing life ministry project. If you have any questions
please contact Teri Crowe at (252) 312-0045.
Calling all Moms: From parenting toddlers to
teens, motherhood has its blessings and challenges. Come and join other moms as we learn
more about our faith, share our experiences and
grow in our prayer life. As moms, we frequently
put our families needs first. This Bible study will help you put
your own spiritual needs on the front burner. The Bible study is
on Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. We also have childcare. If you are interested, please contact Brenna Gintyrapp at
252-679-4020 or [email protected]. "Her children rise up
and call her blessed; her husband, too, praises her: Many are the
women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all.”
Proverbs 31: 28-29
The Catholic Daughters Court #2233 would
like to thank all those who donated items,
money, baked goods and supported our
recent fundraiser with their purchases.
We were able to double our goal with all of
your help. We feel so lucky to be a part of
this great church.
Did you enjoy the concert benefit featuring
“Women of Praise,” a women’s choir composed of
Albemarle area residents, which was held at Holy
Family in January? They will be returning on
Sunday, July 19th, for a repeat performance. All proceeds will
be donated to the Teri Crowe Fund. Teri is a long-time
parishioner at Holy Family and needs a heart transplant. She
must raise $25,000 before she can be put on a heart transplant
list. Information as it is received will be published in future
bulletins.

Help Protect International Religious
Freedom by Passing H.R. 1150
Christians and Religious Minorities
Suffering in Middle East and Elsewhere
Pope Francis has expressed increasing
concern
for
the
suffering
of
many
Christians and others who are persecuted
around the world simply because of their
faith.
The
brutality
inflicted
on
religious
minorities
has
reached
staggering proportions, causing them to
flee the violence in places like Syria,
Iraq,
Pakistan,
Nigeria,
and
Myanmar
(Burma) with little more than the clothes
on their backs. Millions of Syrians and
Iraqis are displaced internally and in
surrounding countries, trying to survive
in cramped quarters, uncertain of their
future.
As a way to address this suffering, the
USCCB strongly supports passage of The
Frank Wolf International Religious Freedom
Act of 2015, H.R. 1150, that updates the
1998 International Religious Freedom Act
(IRFA) and provides more tools for the
U.S. government to support the protection
of religious minorities.
Two vases are located in the Holy Family
Memorial Garden so that individuals may
place “live” flowers in them in memory of their
loved ones. Please do not use plastic
flowers. Thank you.
MINISTERIO HISPANO- JUNIO 7, 2015
nos has hecho tus hijos e hijas
en la familia de la Iglesia.
Que tu gracia y amor
ayuden a nuestras familias
Juan Fisher, San Juan Bautista, SS.
Evangelio.
