To Teach Who Christ Is (TTWCI) Campaign
Campaña Enseñar Quien es Cristo (TTWCI)
As I mentioned last week, I will keep you posted
about our initiatives and plans regarding this very
important campaign, which will take place from January to June of 2016. The core team has already
begun working in forming a stronger executive committee that will work in the planning, organizing,
and implementation of this campaign. The leaders
of TTWCI have reached out to the different ministries to explain the rationale of the campaign and at
the same time to solicit their support so together, as
one parish, we can reach our goal of raising $2 M in
the period of 3 years. Our parish will keep $1.4 M
that we can use for evangelization, formation, and
for capital improvements.
Como mencioné la semana pasada, los mantendré informados sobre nuestras iniciativas y planes con respecto a
esta importante campaña, que se llevará a cabo de
enero a junio de 2016. El equipo central ya ha comenzado a trabajar en la formación de un comité ejecutivo más
fuerte que funcionará en la planificación, organización y
ejecución de la presente campaña. Los líderes de TTWCI
han contactado a los diferentes ministerios para explicar
la razón de la campaña y al mismo tiempo para solicitar
su apoyo para que juntos como una parroquia, podamos
alcanzar nuestra meta de recaudar $2 M en el período de
3 años. Nuestra parroquia se quedará con $1.4 M que
podemos utilizar para la evangelización, la formación, y
para mejoras capitales.
PRIEST DAY (November 4)
Last Thursday, we had our second priest’s day to
talk about the vision of renewal in the Archdiocese
of Chicago. Fr. Gary Graf and I were asked to share
the story of Most Blessed Trinity as a consolidated
parish. Fr. Graf spoke about the history and the difficult and yet successful process. I’d like to share
what the Archbishop mentioned when he came to
visit us. He stated, “Jake, I want you to thank your
parishioners on my behalf and please remind them
always of the maturity of their faith for making so
much sacrifices in making this consolidation of three
parishes into one.” At the end of the Archbishop’s
final remarks he said “…what we hope and pray for
in this process is to have more mature Catholics
who will engage the life and ministry of the Church
like the parishioners in Waukegan.” I was humbled
and proud at the same time in hearing these words
from the mouth of our good shepherd. Do you
know that there are only three (3) parishes that are
consolidated like us in the entire Archdiocese of Chicago? The other two are Blessed Sacrament and St.
Frances of Rome. Let us pray for this very important
process for the sake of the mission of the Church.
November 11 (Veteran’s Day)
I want to mention that we offered masses for all our
Veteran’s last Wednesday. We remember our Heroes each day, especially those who have offered
the greatest sacrifice of their lives for freedom, democracy, peace, and justice. Let us also remember
to pray for all who serve in the military and their
families. Let us pray too for more vocations to the
priesthood as well as in the military chaplaincy.

Día de Sacerdotes (4 de noviembre)
El jueves pasado, tuvimos nuestro segundo día de sacerdotes para hablar de la visión de la renovación en la Arquidiócesis de Chicago. Se nos pidió al Padre Gary Graf y
a mí, compartir la historia de la Parroquia Santísima Trinidad como una parroquia consolidada. Padre Graf habló
sobre la historia y el proceso difícil pero exitoso. Me gustaría compartir con ustedes lo que el Arzobispo mencionó
cuando vino a visitarnos. Él dijo, "Jake, quiero que agradezcas a tus feligreses en mi nombre y por favor recuérdales siempre de la madurez de su fe por hacer tantos sacrificios para hacer esta consolidación de tres parroquias a una." Al final de sus comentarios el Arzobispo
dijo "...lo que esperamos y oramos por en este proceso,
es tener católicos más maduros, que se dediquen a la
vida y ministerio de la Iglesia como los feligreses en
Waukegan." Yo sentí una gran humildad y orgullo al mismo tiempo al escuchar estas palabras de boca de nuestro buen pastor. ¿Sabía usted que sólo hay tres (3) parroquias que se consolidaron como nosotros en toda la
Arquidiócesis de Chicago? Las otras dos son, Santísimo
Sacramento y Santa Francisca de Roma. Oremos por este proceso tan importante para el bien de la misión de la
Iglesia.
11 de noviembre (Día de los Veteranos)
Quiero mencionar que ofrecimos misas para todos nuestros veteranos el miércoles pasado. Recordamos a nuestros héroes todos los días, sobre todo aquellos que han
ofrecido el mayor sacrificio de su vida por la libertad, la
democracia, la paz y la justicia. Recordemos también
orar por todos los que sirven en las fuerzas armadas y
sus familias. Oremos también por más vocaciones al sacerdocio, así como en la capellanía militar.

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
33er Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the
angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." It
may strike us as odd that there are things that the
angels don't know. But it's even more surprising that
Jesus--the Son of God--would have been unaware of
the divine schedule for the end of the world. Given all
of this, should it come as any surprise that there are
things that God chooses not to reveal to us right now?
In his wisdom, God knows when the timing is right to
reveal his plans to us. The fact that we don't know
everything helps us remember that we are not God.
We are his creatures, dependent upon him for our existence, our sustenance, and for the hour of our death
too. In this era of instant Internet information, advanced diagnostic medical tests, and statistical surveys predicting future trends, it's hard to accept the
fact that there are some things we just can't know.
But this reality should keep us humble, reminding us
that we don't have to know everything because we
are in the powerful hands of a loving God.
Como cada año, en el penúltimo domingo del tiempo
ordinario, escuchamos un fragmento del discurso escatológico de Jesús. Este domingo es según Marcos.
El género apocalíptico nos sorprende y muchas veces
nos asusta, pues inmediatamente pensamos en el fin
del mundo que tantos han predicho pero fallado, ya
que este fin solo Dios lo sabe: "Nadie conoce el día ni
la hora. Ni los ángeles del cielo ni el Hijo; solamente
el Padre" (Mc 13, 32). Lo referente a las imágenes del
sol, la luna y las estrellas nos llevan al anuncio del
misterio de Jesucristo, quien le da un verdadero sentido a vivir con esperanza en el presente y el futuro.
Thus, any attempt to "see the future" through psychic
mediums like palm reading, tarot cards, or astrology
suggests a kind of distrust in God. As the catechism
states, such practices "contradict the honor, respect,
and loving fear that we owe to God alone" (§2116).
As much as we might want to know when the world
will end, when our dreams will come true, or when
our problems will cease, we are called to walk in faith,
accepting what God chooses to reveal and trusting
that even our moments of uncertainty are part of his
benevolent plan for us. As today's psalm declares,
"you will show me the path to life." What else do we
really need to know?
¿Cuál es tu opinión sobre esto? ¿Qué piensas acerca
de estas lecturas? Es recomendable dialogar sobre
estas lecturas en familia y grupos parroquiales para
así ayudar a clarificar tantas dudas y miedos sobre la
destrucción del mundo. Jesús nos indica que nada es
absoluto, ni siquiera la propia vida. Lo único cierto es
que todos algún día, tarde o temprano, estaremos
frente a lo que sí es absoluto y verdadero: Dios. ¿Qué
esperamos los cristianos de hoy? ¿Cómo vemos a
nuestra comunidad? ¿Cuál es nuestra esperanza? Ojalá que todos estemos de acuerdo en el retorno glorioso de Cristo. Bien sabemos que no somos perfectos,
pero tratamos de serlo: es por eso que acudimos cada
domingo a la Eucaristía. Las lecturas nos indican que
vamos caminando hacia el final de nuestra vida. Pidamos al Señor por la conversión de todos.

are required for parents and godparents. Please call the
parish office for a reservation. Baptisms are Saturdays at
9:00 am.
