EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
Applications in prescribed format are invited from local eligible candidates for filling up of 147 (one
hundred and forty-seven) post of Forest Guard on temporary regular basis in the Pay Band-1 Rs. 520020200 and Grade Pay of Rs. 2400/- plus other admissible allowances under Forest, Environment and
Wildlife Management Department, as per the rules, Government of Sikkim.

2. Eligibility:
(a) Minimum educational qualification: Class X passed or equivalent from recognized Board.
(b) Age: Should have attained the age of 18 years and should not exceed 24 years as on 31st January
2015.
The maximum age limit relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST/BL/Primitive Tribe candidates, 4 years
for OBC (Central List) candidates, 3 years for OBC (State List) candidates.
(c) Minimum Physical Standard requirement:

3. Only those applicants having the above eligibility conditions and possessing the following
documents may apply for the said post:
i.
Class X passed mark sheet and certificate with date of birth
ii.
Should possess Sikkim Subject or Certificate of Identification issued by District
Collectorate of respective district in Sikkim as the case may be.
iii.
In case of married female candidates both she and her husband should be in
possession of Sikkim Subject or Certificate of Identification Certificate issued by
concerned District Collectorate and in case of unmarried female candidates both she
and her father should be in possession of Sikkim Subject Certificate or Certificate of
Identification.
iv.
Unmarried certificate in case of unmarried woman applicants.
v.
Should have valid local employment card.
vi.
NOC in case of candidates employed in the Government Sector (Centre or State).
vii.
Two nos. of passport size photograph (to be submitted with application form).
viii.
ST/SC/OBC (CL)/OBC (SL)/BL/Primitive Tribe certificate as the case may be.
ix.
In case of Below Poverty applicants, BPL Certificate issued by DESME/District
Collector/Sub-Divisional Magistrate to be submitted.
x.
Should be conversant with customs and usage of Sikkim.
xi.
Should have communicative skill in English/Hindi, Nepali and Mother tongue.
(The supporting documents may not be submitted at the time of submission of application form. The
same required to be submitted and verified at the time of interview only).
The applicants are required to submit the filled in application form to the office of the Divisional Forest
Officer (Territorial Division) (East/West/South/North) in their respective Districts or Administration
Section, HQ, FEWMD, Gangtok. The application form can be downloaded from the Official Website of
the Forest, Environment & Wildlife Management Department, Government of Sikkim
www.sikkimforest.gov.in and www.sikenvis.nic.in The application form should be accompanied by Indian
Postal Order of Rs. 100 (one hundred) each obtainable from Post Offices and addressed to PCCF-cumPrincipal Secretary, Forest, Environment & Wildlife Management Department.
The last date for submission of application form is 28.02.2015 during working hours. No application
form shall be received after 28/02/2015.
4. Method of Selection: The method of selection shall involve the components as given below:
(1) Written Examination
(2) Physical Measurement & Endurance Test
(3) Viva-Voce

4(1) Written Examination:
The written examination will be conducted for 100 (hundred) marks. The questions will be of objective
type/ multiple choices only (OMR based).
The written examination shall be set on class X standard and the syllabus for the same is broadly as
follows:



General Knowledge (India and Sikkim): This will broadly include the areas of History, Geography,
Economy and Polity of India and Sikkim, Indian National Movement, General Science,
Mathematics, Current events of national and international importance.
General science including forestry.
Reasoning Test/Aptitude Test.
The selected candidates of the written examination (15 times the number of candidates in each
category) will be called for Physical Endurance Test. The list of candidate selected for the physical
endurance test will be notified in Sikkim Herald/Local newspapers and in the notice boards of Forest
Secretariat, Deorali, Divisional Forest Offices (Territorial) of all the Districts and the website of the Forest
, Environment and Wildlife Management Department (www.sikkimforest.gov.in and
www.sikenvis.nic.in)
4(2) Physical Measurement & Endurance Test: The Physical Endurance Test shall be conducted for
100 marks (one hundred marks only).
The physical endurance test will include the following test:

Marks will be allotted based on performance in the physical endurance test i.e. for better performance
more marks will be given.
The details of the Physical Endurance Test as given below:
4(2)(a) Walking Test: The candidate has to complete the stipulated distance within four hours time
(25KM for male and 16KM for female candidate). The percentage of marks that will be awarded
according to time taken for completion of the distance is as given below:

4(3) Viva –Voce;
The selected candidates based on the total marks obtained in the written examination and physical
endurance test will be called for Viva-Voce (three times the number of vacancies in the respective
category).
NB: No individual calling letters shall be issued and no TA/DA shall be paid for attending any phase of
selection process. Results of all phase of the selection test will be displayed in the notice boards of
Forest Secretariat, DFO offices in the district headquarters and published in papers and on the
departmental websites.
