he second month of the new year has begun. Hopes and dreams are still strong and
we hope to improve on the previous year. We should resolve to increase our faith,
come to know the Lord Jesus in a more intimate way. He is the center of our life of faith. Our faith
anchors us and gives us direction and purpose. Practicing the faith in a serious, more positive way
must be a priority this year. Everyone must see our new commitment to follow Christ. Prayer,
study, the sacraments, good works are signs of our serious direction and means for redirecting ourselves as Christ followers. Follow Him more intensely this year. The elusive peace we desire will be
ours.

Please consider giving our council
some help with the Night at the Races fundraiser by taking a patron ad in our program
book. The patron ad is $10. If you can’t attend the event or buy a horse, this is a great
way to help.
There will be a patron scholarship area displaying
the names of past scholarship recipients. Brother Knights
please ask your children to see if they
are willing to support the night at the
races with this effort.
There will also be an area displaying the
names of Brother Knights supporting the
Night at the Races as a patron.
The patron ad is on the back page of this newsletter.

Only Having Insurance“Through Work”
Doesn’t Work
ANNUAL NIGHT AT T HE
RACES
S AT URDAY MAR CH 7
Do you know anyone whose life or career has drastically changed during these
years of economic downturn? It’s very likely that someone in your immediate
or extended family or group of friends is facing financial uncertainty. Maybe
there’s a possibility that you (or your spouse) could lose your job or change
employers.
Preparations are underway for Council 4130’s Annual Night at the Races to be held at the K of C Grand Ballroom on March 7.
Too many people have often relied on group term life insurance as their only
safety net. Often, this insurance is an employee benefit provided at low or no
cost. The existence of this coverage might convince someone that personallyowned life insurance is not necessary.
Tickets for the event are $15 a person. It includes a
meal, beer, and set – ups. The doors open at 6:30pm, the
buffet is at 7:00pm, and races start at 7:45pm sharp. Let us
know if you want to reserve tables.
But only having “through work” insurance can leave you and your family vulnerable. Most group life insurance policies are limited in amount, which may be
tied to salary or some other benchmark. These numbers are often capped, and
this cap may be dangerously low when compared to your family’s actual needs.
In fact, a detailed needs analysis that evaluates your specific situation, will
likely show that any employer-provided coverage falls short.
In addition, the amount of group insurance offered is almost always reduced,
sometimes dramatically, when you retire. You could one day find yourself
without coverage, and if your health has changed (which it will as you age),
you might also find yourself unable to secure individual protection. At the very
least, it will definitely be more expensive.
While group life insurance can help, it does not replace the need for individually owned life insurance. I’ll be happy to meet with you and provide a no-cost
needs analysis, so you’ll know exactly where you stand.
Wing Night
The cost of to sponsor a horse is $15.
Ads for the race program will be $25 for a quarter
page, $50 for a half, and $100 for a full page.
Volunteers are needed to sell horses, help at the
event, and much more. See the sign up sheets at the hall.
For more information contact Steve Fedorko @ 440886-1973 or GK Ben Welich 216-410-2150
. Let us know if you want to reserve tables.
Deadline for ads is February 28. This is also a good
time to use the Patron Ad form on the back of the news letter. With your help this fundraiser will be a great success.
