A Newsletter of Victory Lutheran Church, LCMS 16200 Berger Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55347 www.victorylcms.org, 952 -934-0956 February 2015 Valentines Day is coming up in a couple of weeks…as if relationships weren’t complicated enough. Should you get something for your significant other? If so, what? It can be tough to know what to get, or what to say, but God’s Word tells us all what we are to DO. Jesus says, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus loved us by sacrificing and giving. He left heaven to come to Earth. He gave His life so we could live eternally. I you’re going to love others the way Jesus loves you, you’re gonna have to sacrifice and give. People often whine about not getting what they want out of a relationship. Wrong question. What are you putting into the relationship? I can’t guarantee any magic results but I can tell you what God tells us to do. Love others as He loves you. Give. Forgive. Serve. Put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Pick up your socks and put them in the hamper. Let your spouse or significant other watch what they want to watch all night long, rub their feet, clean the toilet…and not just on Valentine’s Day. Compliment. Encourage. Support. Appreciate. Why? So we can get something in return? Nope. “We love because He first loved us.” -1 John 4:19 Peace in Jesus, Brendan Prigge Pastor Office: 952-934-0956 [email protected] www.victorylcms.org “A new command I give you: Love one another. Cynthia Krause Page 2 The Victory Sun - February 2015 Board Retreat January 10th, 2015 Members of Victory, The Board of Directors recently met for our 2015 Retreat at Victory. The half day event started with an in depth devotion led by Pastor Prigge and focused on “Knowing and Sharing the Peace of Christ.” The devotion was a great start to our meeting and couldn’t have been a better fit with Victory’s 2015 theme “Live.” After completing our monthly meeting for January the Board focused on planning out this year’s theme. I’m happy to report we made a great deal of progress in planning unique events and service projects for the first quarter that showcase how members of Victory “Live” their faith. Coming soon, both Members and Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in our first event, the February Blood Drive. Look for more information and details on additional upcoming events in the weeks to come! Following our planning sessions, each Director shared their specific goals they’d like to accomplish in 2015 and after hearing them, I’m confident we’ll have a great year. After our meetings, some on the Board were introduced to Kona Grille here in Eden Prairie for the first time where we enjoyed lunch and some great fellowship.
