Leslie Frost News –
February, 2015
LFPS: A World Class School
We have so much to celebrate
as we move into this year,
2015! Games club is alive and
one of the most popular places
to be on a cold winter day. The
gym was full of excitement as
our volleyball teams moved
onto the zone and county
tournaments. The mini-gym
hosted ball hockey, the library
is buzzing with our teams
getting ready for Battle of the
Books and of course portable
two and room 18 still have the
“sounds of music”. What is
coming? Basketball, Kiwanas,
and the Celebration Assembly
are around the corner. We owe
this
excitement
to
the
dedication of our staff, students
and parent volunteers. We
appreciate all of your support.
You make this a very special
place for all of us. Thank you
for helping us to “Grow and
Learn Together”.
Our Celebration Assemblies are
February 20th. Primary at 9:10
am; Jr/Int at 11:10 am. Both
choirs will be performing at the
assemblies.

Peachjar
Our school is getting ready to
launch a new electronic flyer
communication tool called
“Peachjar.” To view schoolapproved eflyers, simply click
the Peachjar button on the
school’s website homepage.
Also, you have the option to
have these eflyers delivered
right to your inbox! Please visit
Peachjar.com to register. This
system is used exclusively for
distribution of school-approved
flyers. Your email address will
never be shared or used for any
other purpose.
This “green” initiative will
provide parents with better
access to information about
school programs, activities, and
events. Thank you for your
support!
Portable 5 – Yearly Trip
New date for the Yearly trip is
April 1st to 2nd.
Room 2 – Thank you
Mrs. Shows
Mrs. Shows' class would like to
thank McDonalds for supplying
our whole class with a healthy
lunch that was planned by
Carson Coppins in our health
class. We looked at calories,
sugar and fat content and his
meal had the least amount of all
of those. We all enjoyed a side
salad, apple slices, hamburger
and received a coupon for an
ice - cream cone.
Me to We
During the month of December,
the Me to We team raised
money to buy goats for families
in Nicaragua. The students at
Leslie Frost raised $750 which
is enough money to buy 15
goats.
Coming soon:
We Create Change
For the up-coming event, the
We Create Change team has
decided to have a little
competition to help raise money
to buy goats. We are going to
ask all classes to participate in
bringing coins into their class.
We will be announcing the top
three winners at the end of the
campaign. See if your class
can be one of the top three
winners!
Rafiki Chains
If you missed your chance last
time, don’t worry, we will be
selling Rafiki Chains again at
the beginning of March! New
colours and patterns will be
available, just in time for Easter!

Junior and Senior
Kindergarten French
Immersion Program
Our registration week for
kindergarten has taken place.
If you know of any potential
French Immersion child(ren) in
your area please ask the parent
to come into the school for a
registration form.
Bus Cancellations
Please remember to listen to
Y92FM (91.9) on your radio dial
for
bus
cancellations.
Remember, if a bus does not
run in the morning, it will not run
after school, even if the weather
clears. If you drive your child in
on a bad weather day you must
speak with office personnel to
confirm who will pick up your
child at the end of the day.

Mr. Morrison
Please note that the school
will be open even when
busses
are
cancelled.
Parents of bussed students do
not need to call Safe Arrival on
a day busses are cancelled.
However, parents of walking
students need to call Safe
Arrival (324-5613) to report
their child’s absence.
We try to update Facebook on
a regular basis and include
bussing information.
If you
“like” LFPS on FB, you will
receive the updates on your
feed.
