Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time
From the Pastor
Religious Education
Dear Parishioners,
It's Super Bowl Sunday! Last year's champions,
the Seattle Seahawks, will defend their title against
the New England Patriots.
The Super Bowl is a very exciting game. When
football season begins, every team wants to make it
to that game and win the championship. The Seahawks are hoping to get that victory for the second
year in a row.
When we listen to the Gospel today, we hear
about God's continual victory.....over the devil!
There are many Gospel passages where someone
may be possessed by an evil spirit. In each of those
passages, Jesus drives the spirit out of the person.
We continue to learn that the devil cannot be victorious over God.
As practicing Catholics, we come to God our
Father in prayer. We truly express our faith by
bringing our needs to God. We learn in today's
gospel that the Lord will be there for us. By staying
true to our faith and bringing our needs to God,
we prepare to join the Lord in His Victory and receive the gift of eternal life.
If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others. If
it is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others.
If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead
enthusiastically. If it is helping, help cheerfully. Romans : 12:7-8
In today’s first reading we hear what it means to be a
prophet. A prophet was seen as someone who God chose
to bring the message of hope and challenge people of
Israel. They would hear the word of God and bring it to
everyone, so that they could learn about God and his
message. The people of Israel believed that it was God
speaking through the prophets. The Prophets gift was to
share. They shared the knowledge that God gave them
with the people of Israel.
We have prophets among us. The Catechists that
come every week to teach our kids about God are our
prophets. They take the word of God and make it so that
the kids can understand. It isn’t an easy job to do what
these wonderful people do. Not only are they teaching
our kids about the word of God, but they are making
sure the kids have fun while they learn. The Catechist do
crafts, put on plays, play games, find movies and make
creative worksheets so that they can help our kids learn.
They put their whole heart and soul into making sure
our kids understand the word of God. I just want to take
a moment to thank our Catechists for taking time out of
their lives to help our children learn and understand the
word of God. They are true prophets.
Our Catechists poses all the gifts listed above. They
are serving, by giving up of their time to spread the
word of God to our kids. They are teaching, by teaching
our kids about God and his love for us. They are encouraging, by encouraging our kids to find out more about
our religion and to keep learning. They are sharing, by
sharing all the information they have with our kids.
They are leading, by leading our kids to the word of God
and showing them how to live as a good Christian. They
are helping, by helping explain things that might seem
complicated in a non-complicated way to our kids.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Dominick

Youth Group
Parish Announcements
It started with 8 pounds of pancake batter, 30
pounds of bacon, 15 pounds of sausages, and
enough coffee to serve the crowd. Last Sunday the
Youth Group sponsored ICC's Pancake Breakfast.
Everything that day was in great numbers, the food,
donations, and the hands that helped. There were
16 Youth Group and Confirmations kids helping to
serve breakfast to the Parish. Many parents and
volunteers helped throughout the day. They worked
hard to make sure the breakfast went great. Anytime I turned around someone was there asking me
what they could do to help.
With the help of the 16 kids, parents, and volunteers the Pancake Breakfast was wonderful! I
personally would like to thank all the kids that
helped. Also, their parents and volunteers for dedicating their time on a Sunday morning, specifically
Regina Bueno who was there early in the morning
getting everything started. I would like to thank all
the parishioners that supported the youth. Without
your participation or donations none of this would
have been possible.
I ask each and every one of you to pray and continue to pray for the youth of our Parish. These
young men and women are at the start of their faith
journey. Many right now are on their path to their
Confirmation, learning more and more about our
faith. Your prayers and support will help lead
them.

Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal
Next week our parish will kick off the 2015
Sharing’s God’s Blessings Annual Appeal.
This year’s Appeal, Sharing God’s Blessings is a
perfect opportunity for us to reflect on God’s generosity to us and to share the blessings we have been
given with those around us. This year, our parish goal
is $46,509.
We are often reminded by our Holy Father Pope
Francis and sacred scripture that in order to love one
another we must share the blessings which God has
provided to us. In Acts 4:32-33, we learn that the
early church shared all possessions with one another
so that the Apostles and early Christian communities
could fully proclaim “the resurrection of the Lord
Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There
was no needy person among them.”
We are called to similarly share what is granted to
us by God and return it to Him so that not one of our
brothers and sisters goes without; without the gift of
faith, without the essential human needs, and without
a personal relationship with Our Lord.
The Annual Appeal provides the poor with food,
shelter and clothing; makes religious education, spiritual guidance and CYO programs available for the
young; insures the future leadership of the Church
with seminarian education and training; and most
important, brings Christ’s Good News to the people of
the Archdiocese.
Thank you in advance for your support of the Sharing
God’s Blessings Annual Appeal.
