ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest Saturday January 31, 2015

ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest
Saturday January 31, 2015
Avon High School
Times
Students need to be in the warm-up room at Avon High School 30 minutes
before their performance time. Please allow time to park (see attached map).
Students’ individual times are attached. All students must provide their own
transportation for themselves and their instrument, and music to Avon
High School.
Warm-up Room
Students need to leave their coat, cases, and anything not needed for the
performance in the warm-up room. Clark-Pleasant Intermediate warm-up
room is E119. Students can use this room to warm-up their instrument and tune.
Students are to be quiet in the warm-up room and are not allowed to write
on chalk boards or touch anything in the room.
Ms. Lang, Mrs. Briel and Ms. Whitaker will be in the warm up room all day.
Please see one of us prior to going to your performance room!
Performance Room/Performance
Students are to head to their performance room 5-7 minutes before their
scheduled performance time. Performance rooms are indicated on the schedule.
Students need to check in with the door person to let them know that they
are there and ready to perform. Schedules rarely run perfectly on time because
students are sometimes in multiple events. It is ok to perform before your
scheduled time if you are ready but you do not have to do so. Also, please be
patient if rooms run behind schedule. Every student will be given the chance to
perform. When entering the performance room, make sure you tell the judge your
name and that you are from Clark-Pleasant Middle School.
Attire
Students are not required to wear the black concert attire that we wear at CPI.
However, students need to dress nicely. Jeans and gym shoes are not
appropriate for the Solo and Ensemble event.
Medals/Rating
Students will be evaluated based on a rubric. After your performance, you will be
given your music back as well as a card indicating your rating of performance.
Students will receive a Gold, Silver, or Bronze rating for their performance. You
will take the card indicating this rating to the medal table to get your medal. DO
NOT forget to get your medal before leaving the site. Ensembles should go to
the medal table together.
Behavior
As always, you are representing the band program and school community of
Clark-Pleasant Intermediate. It is our expectation that you act professionally at
all times. You MUST be quiet in the hallways waiting for your performance
or walking around. Do not play your instrument in the hallway. It is
important to adhere to these rules in order to ensure the success of all
performers for that day. Please be respectful to other students/performers,
parents, judges, officials, and ISSMA door workers.
Concessions
Concessions will be available if students wish to purchase snacks. However, no
food or drinks are allowed in the warm-up or performance area.
