A New Way to Celebrate Birthdays in Shul! Mark your own
birthday, or that of a child, parent, or spouse/partner by making a special
Birthday Donation to CSAIR’s Kiddush fund. Birthdays for which a
donation of $18 or more is made will be listed in the Shabbat bulletin. It’s a
great way to celebrate with the community while helping to support
CSAIR’s Kiddush. To make a donation call the shul office or go to
www.csair.org/donate. It’s fast, easy, and secure. (Be sure to provide the

Financial Aid Available for Summer Camp Programs: Families who
are interested in sending their children to Jewish camp but may have shied
away because of financial obstacles, should contact BunkConnect.org.
What eligible family wouldn't want 40-60% off their first (and sometimes
second) summer at one of over 75 of the best overnight camps!
Jewish Spousal Loss Group: Share the journey of loss while gaining
strength from others and drawing solace from Jewish spiritual texts. The
group will meet for eight sessions at the Beatman Center from 5:006:30PM starting Monday February 23. For information contact Anna

required. All services are free of charge.
USY Summer Experiences: United Synagogue Youth offers trips to
Poland (July 6-14), and Budapest and Prague (July 13-20). Contact: Jules

Honeymoon Israel provides highly subsidized, 9-day trips to Israel for
groups of couples from the same city. Couples must have at least one
Jewish partner, be ages 25-40 and be within the first 5 years of their
committed relationship. It is an inclusive program – for Jewish-Jewish,
interfaith and LGBTQ couples. The total cost for participating couples is
$1,500 including all flights and ground costs. Applications for the trip
leaving from New York City in February, 2016 will be accepted starting in

Reading Partners, a program that provides one-on-one tutoring, needs

Do You Know the Code? The CSAIR Thursday Experience is looking
for a dynamic instructor to teaching coding/app design to 2nd – 5th

Chazzan’s Tisch
Singing zemirot is a beautiful form of oneg (delight), a
way to celebrate and to take pleasure in the world on
Shabbat. In that spirit, we introduce the ‘Chazzan’s
Tisch.’ Once a month after Kiddush and once a month
on Shabbat afternoon between Minha and Maariv, we
will gather to sing some old favorites and some lesser
known melodies. After Kiddush: February 7,
March 14, April 25, May 16, June 6. At Minha/Maariv:
January 31, February 21, March 28, April 18, May 9,
June 13.

revising CSAIR’s mission statement and wants your input. Join us on Sunday, February 8, 9:30 AM to discuss the
shul’s mission and future and how they can best reflect the diverse perspectives of our congregants. Two additional
sessions: Saturday, February 28, following Kiddush, and Friday, March 13, at a Lechu Neranena dinner.
Israeli Issues Through Israeli Lenses: Second of a 3-part course, Sunday, February 8, 2:00 PM. “The Holocaust
Survivor and the New Jews.” A look, through the study of Israeli cinema, at some of the critical social issues that
have formed the shape of Israeli society. Free and open to all. Next session: Sunday, March 15.
Class: Bread and Chocoloate. Bread—We will do a full meal including multigrain rustic flaxseed rolls, spinach
and feta gozleme (stuffed Turkish flatbreads), and yeast pumpkin bread. Chocolate—Chocolate babka with Russian
filling, mini molten chocolate cakes with raspberry filling and chocolate and cocoa biscotti with almonds and dried
cherries. Wednesdays, February 11 and 25. Taught by Judy Matthews. $80 per person for materials for both

Set, Focus, Action – Israel: Arab, Jew; Pioneer, Holocaust Survivor; Soldier; beach bum; Rabbi, Atheist…the
kaleidoscope that is Israel. Through clips (including some rare footage) from Israeli films and TV that cover the
years 1897 to the present, teens will try to determine what issues have been central to the development of Israel’s
identity, and how Israel’s attitudes have changed and evolved over time. This perspective will open up the
discussion as to how these issues play out in Israel today. Taught by CSAIR member Danny Mond as part of our
