NCMC Used Book Sale
Looking for some great reading this winter? Check out the North Central
Michigan College Used Book Sale, Tuesday through Thursday, January
27-29, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The book sale will be in the lobby of the
main administration building on the Petoskey campus. For more
information on the book sale or to donate books, contact the NCMC
Foundation at 231-439-6218
NCMC Luncheon Lecture
North Central Michigan College’s Luncheon Lecture on Friday, January
30, will look at Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The luncheon
begins at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation starting at noon in the Library
conference room on the Petoskey campus. Cost for the event is $10 and
includes lunch. Reservations are required. Call 231-348-6600 to reserve
your place at the table.
Wildlife Adventure
Saturday January 31, 10am - noon at the Greenwood Wildlife Sanctuary,
Cheboygan County. The Greenwood Foundation is a privately-owned
property near Wolverine, MI protected with a conservation easement
held by LTC. Greenwood welcomes the public to enjoy and explore this
more than 1,700-acre property. Groomed trails will offer you the chance
to enjoy the great outdoors. Skis and snowshoes are only provided for
children 15 and under if needed. Because this is private property, no dogs
are allowed. Please arrive 15 minutes early. No cost, but pre-registration
requested by calling 231.347.0991.
Winter Celebration & Star Stories
Andreae Preserve, Cheboygan County Saturday January 31st, 4 – 6pm.
Explore this beautiful preserve on the Pigeon River in Cheboygan County
with naturalist Mike Supernault at 4pm, or snowshoe/XC ski on your
own through the 5+ miles of trails on the Andreae and adjacent Banwell
Preserve. Then at 5pm head into the cabin to get warm, have a snack, and
hear stories of the winter constellations with star lore historian and
Headlands International Dark Sky Park director, Mary Stewart Adams.
Please park at the Andreae Preserve parking lot and bring a headlamp or
flashlight to light your way back to your car. Please pre-register and let us
know if you need to borrow snowshoes
All You Can Eat Breakfast
Sunday, February 1 from 8am to Noon at the Cross in the Woods Family
Center. $8 adults, $2 Kids ages 10 and under. Breakfast includes
Pancakes, American fries, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, fruit, toast,
milk, juice and coffee. Proceeds benefit Community Projects sponsored
by the Knights of Columbus.
Messy Superbowl at Transfiguration Episcopal
Everyone is invited to Transfiguration Church for a Messy Souper Bowl
Celebration this Sunday at 4pm. We will share a pot of stone soup. There
will also be crafts and games for all ages. If you have a vegetable, bring it
to add to our pot! Call 231-238-2188 with questions. We promise to
finish before the big game!!
Winter Trails at Indian River Golf Club Now Open!
Winter is upon us and our cross-country trails are partially ready! While
we haven’t had the weather needed to properly groom them, the trail has
been set and is currently open for snow shoes and adventurous Nordic
skiers. With a couple of days of warmer weather we will be able to get the
groomer out and lay some smoother tracks. We’ll keep you posted as we
accomplish more trail maintenance.
