TRUE STEWARDSHIP
The gospel message proclaimed throughout the
New Testament invites us to live in harmony with the
world. This is a challenge to care for the world and
be stewards of all that God has given us. Like
generations before us, we are entrusted with the care
of the earth so that generations to follow may enjoy
the same gifts. Sometimes, however, we are absorbed
into the ways of the world. When we are of the
world, we rely heavily on the power of wealth,
beauty, fame, and accumulation of material
possessions. We want earthly possessions and
carelessly turn our hearts from the responsibilities of
stewardship and conservation.
The readings today challenge us to walk away
from the world so that we might inherit our share of
God’s kingdom. How we live our lives directly
reflects our love for God.

Dear Parishioners,
Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King, a feast established in 1925, to combat the
excessive nationalistic attitudes that were prevalent during and after World War I.
It is only when we who call ourselves Christians are true to our discipleship of Christ that we can be
agents of peace. In these days of such extreme radicalism we urgently need Christ’s gospel of love and
mutual respect.
Today at the 10:30 am Mass we welcome the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and welcome
them to our cafeteria for their Communion Breakfast. We congratulate them for their respect of Hibernian
culture and their charitable works.
My brother priests, deacons and Pastoral Staff join me in wishing you and your families a Happy
Thanksgiving.
The schedule of Masses for Thanksgiving will be: Wednesday at 7:00 pm; Thursday at 6:45 am and
9:00 am.
The rectory office will be closed on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, as well as Friday, November 27, a
diocesan holiday. There will be no 6:45 am Mass on Friday and the 8:30 am and 11:45 am Masses will
celebrated in church.
Let us all be grateful for the many gifts, spiritual and material, that we have received from God but,
above all, for the gift of faith and each other. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Let’s pray for each other
