Steps Up to STEM Training
Program Extended
Do you need to train your new workers?
Do you have employees who need up-todate, competitive skills training?
If you answered yes to one or both of these
questions, then the Steps Up to STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Program may be your solution. The FMS Workforce Solutions Center can offer assistance in
cutting your costs in training new and current
workers.
We can invest up to $6,000 in Training for
each eligible new employee you hire or assist
with upgraded training for your current employees. A STEM Career Pathway will be developed for each employee through flexible One
or Two-Step Career Plans combining employment and training that makes sense for both the
employee and YOUR business. These programs can reimburse up to 50% of the gross
wages for hands-on training or up to 50% of the
instruction cost for classroom training.

NYS Department of Labor Offers
National Emergency Grant
Training Program
The New York State Department of Labor’s Dislocated Worker Training National Emergency
Grant (DWT NEG) Training Grant program is
now available to businesses to provide occupational training to long-term unemployed (26
weeks or longer), dislocated workers.
The funding will support two types of occupational training:
 Work-Based Learning, including:
On-theJob Training, Customized Training, and
Registered Apprenticeships, and
 Classroom-Based Learning, which leads to
industry-recognized credentials in high –
demand occupations and Remedial Training (upon completion of Remedial Training,
participants must move on to Class-sized
training).
Funding assistance cannot exceed $50,000 per
employer and trainings must be completed by
June 30, 2015. The maximum length of training
is six months and the maximum training cost
per person for each type of training is as follows:
 On-the-Job Training—$7,900
 Apprenticeship Training—$3,000
 Customized Training—$2,500
 Class-sized Training—$5,000
 Remedial Training—$625

comparing to established specifications and control
limits and making recommendations on appropriateness of date for release. Adheres to HIPAA laws,
OSHA, Joint Commission, and NYS Health Department protocols. Proficient in use of technical instruments and computer data entry from analysis.
