COURSE ON CONDUCT AND PRACTICE OF ARBITRATION

The National Construction Council in collaboration with Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators is organizing a
three day course on Conduct and Practice of Arbitration. This follows the postponement of the course

which was to be held on 10 to 12 December, 2014.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
The objectives of the course are:
• To create awareness on the various methods of settling commercial disputes particularly alternative
dispute resolution mechanism [ADR].
• To create awareness on the procedures for arbitration as means of resolving commercial disputes.
• To equip participants with knowledge on Law and procedural aspects of Arbitration
• To prepare participants for registration as Members of the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators.
COURSE CONTENT
The course will cover the following: Settlement of disputes practice, Law of Arbitration, Powers and
Jurisdiction of the Arbitrator, Interlocutory matters, Hearing procedure, Costs, Interest and Award Writing.
At the end of the course, participants will sit for an entry examination for the Tanzania Institute of
Arbitrators. The course materials will be provided to participants prior to the date of the course for those
who will pay early.
PARTICIPANTS
Participation is open to all those who are interested in resolution of commercial disputes through
arbitration. The course is of particular interest to: Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors,
Estate Managers, Insurance personnel, Lawyers, Shipping Industry personnel and other professionals.

The course will be conducted at the HOLIDAY INN, Dar es Salaam.

The course will run for three days from 25 to 27 February, 2015. Each day the course will start at 8.30
AM.
COURSE FEES
Fee for the course is Tshs. 600,000 per participant. The fee is to cover for course materials, lunch, and
refreshments. Those who do not wish to attend the course but would like to sit for the entry examination
only are also invited at a fee of Tshs. 300,000. Payments should be made to National Construction
Council. Early booking and confirmation is essential.
